Whoever said CL finals generate a bigger buzz when Barca, RM, Bayern or a PL team are in it was right. Sad to say that but there doesn't seem much excitement/anticipation for this from the neutrals. I am sure people will get more interested at kick-off.

This goal was a belter. To score from the position he was in when he received the ball (right wing near the halfway line and covered by plenty of Athletic players). Supernatural ability.

Pretty poor. Also far better when he has space to run into than against packed defences and low blocks, because his biggest attribute is his pace and then he can usually finish ok one on one with the keeper. Make of that what you will.

I always rated Toney - he's a very good striker. Strong, physical, can hold the ball up and run channels, can finish, and pretty decent on the ball outside the box too. I wish he'd have stayed in the PL.

Saying PL teams don't take the Europa League seriously, or that the league is too hard and teams are fatigued when they play in Europe, is a bit of an easy get out and I am not even sure it is true I do think PL is better than La Liga at the moment, but La Liga was better for absolutely ages...

You can read that into it - or you can read into it that the top sides are weaker. It depends how you want to spin it. Also, you say everything else was 'fun and entertaining' - the relegation battle was an abomination for the second year running. Totally finished by like March.

I think PL is better than La Liga too (though I didn't always think this way) but to be fair that scoreline massively flattered United. Sure they were more clinical, but Athletic were the better team in the first leg and dominated United for 70 minutes in the second - their heads just dropped...
