Ribery was better in the CL than Ronaldo that season - Ribery wasn't a goalscorer but did so much great work outside the box and in general play.

I agree. While it is great for the players, coaches and fans of the nations who have more shot at qualifying now (mainly in Africa and Asia), it will certainly dilute the quality of the tournament. I feel 32 was already a struggle for quality teams so 48 is, ya know... Also, a 48 team World Cup...
