Individual awards in team sports are subjective and utterly, utterly meaningless. They're not objective like team trophies. it's a new, modern fan thing because of M and R and the internet and stats. Nobody cared who won BD or WPOTY in the 80s and 90s.

Footballers care too much about this meaningless award. Didn't TAA say he's rather win this than the World Cup? Absolutely bizarre and sums up everything that's wrong with football. Especially for him who has a decent chance of winning WC and zero chance of winning this ever, lol.

Yeah, he's a quality player, works hard for the team. Fair play to him for winning it. It's been a joke of an award for years, but I think he deserves it. Not fully, but just as much as anyone else did.

Tbf, him winning 1 is much less offensive to me than Tranaldo winning 5.

I don't remember anyone - on here or elsewhere - seriously talking about Dembele before January. PSG struggled hugely in the league phase.

If it was for the best, most talented player Messi would win it every year. Ditto Yamal with Messi now out of Europe. It's not tho, it's about best performer. Not convinced that is Dembele but who cares either way.
