The FIFA Ballon D'Or is based on the calendar year, anything from the year before is not taken into account. Khaled had some stats showing that in 2013 Ronaldo has 50 goals and Messi 42, though I think Ronaldo's goal count is now higher. If the Ballon D'Or was based on goals, Ronaldo would win.

Crossing is just one of those aspects of the game where it's easy to learn how to do but very hard to master. Most times the balled just gets cleared away, but when a player gets a cross right, you can tell right away he hit it perfectly.
