Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi

Saving himself for the MLS. :coffee:

    Erling Haaland

Would be fine with 5 year contract that includes a 150m release clause that can be activated after the 3rd season. By that point we should have a strong team, recovered financially and some new young strikers should pop up.

    9 - Robert Lewandowski

Best player in the world since 2020. Farce he wasn't given a Ballon D'or.

Laporta: "I had to make a big decision about Messi, but I do not regret it. No one is above the club." My president.

    Erling Haaland

MSN was ruined by Neymar's ego, Suarez's age and to some extent Leo's lack of positional discipline post-2015. If Suarez was a few years younger and Neymar wasn't an idiot the trio could have easily worked for a few more years. Haaland might want to move to the EPL after a few seasons at...

    Erling Haaland

Should head to City for our sake. Odd how casual some folk are about Madrid potentially pairing both Mbappe and Haaland with Vinicius. We are not going to beat that with "team work" or "playing as a unit" like some of the more deluded on here suggest.

    La Liga 2021/22

Don't care what Griezmann does for Atleti. Just needs to stay fit so he appears in 50% of matches until the end of next season and the permanent transfer goes through.

I wouldn't want either anywhere near my team. Are they still "good" in the sense of having some technical quality? Yes, but they are big net negatives on the pitch. Would take Adama over both.

    Xavi Hernández

Inevitable fall back to earth, but good progression to see the team fight back from a losing position in a difficult away match. Title winning teams find ways to escape with 3 points even with sub-optimal conditions. Still plenty to improve, but nothing to really moan about.

    7 - Ferran Torres

Liked what he showed tonight apart from finishing obviously. Not a touchline type winger and is at his worst when isolated out wide like he was too often against Athletic.

    Erling Haaland

Laporta: "I deny that there's been any type of negotiation for Haaland. Meeting between Xavi and Haaland in Munich? That is none of my business. It's a conversation between sportsmen without any type of negotiation." [sport]

Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi

Ronaldo was mercilessly mocked on this forum for being a "flop" at Juve while scoring 100 goals in 3 seasons from ages 34-36 with a mediocre squad. Messi has 2 league goals in 10 months on a super team in Ligue 1 and every excuse in the book is made for him.

Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi

Maybe not last summer, but during the 2020 'burofax' saga City were the main contenders for his signature according to most reports. Bartomeu refused to let him go and then City bought Grealish before the renewal fell through a year later.

Lionel "The Greatest of All Time" Messi

Imagine if he was still here walking around and ruining the development of youth for another 2 seasons. Thank goodness the CVC deal fell through. Instead of 4th we would be 3rd and pumped in R16 in the CL playing the same turgid football of previous seasons. Lad should be counting his blessings...

    Xavi Hernández

Credit for him to understanding that the squad has strength in the air and on counters and implementing them into our attack. Not pig headed tiki-taka trying to fit square pegs in round holes.
  16. T

    Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Killer in the box. That goal he put in tonight looks simple enough on first viewing, but it required world class awareness, reaction speed, balance and skill to stick his boot around the defender's body and get the shot on target.
  17. T

    Ousmane Dembélé

Has matured some, but his injuries have also lessened his pace and quickness of his feet. Also think part of it is him being more cautious of activating into a full sprint because in the past that is how he often pulled his hamstring.
  18. T

    Ousmane Dembélé

Fair play to him, but still would not give anywhere near the contract he is demanding. Lad will inevitably become complacent, pick up more injuries and have 3 bad matches where he cannot control a ball for every 1 good one. As far as tonight goes, it was his best performance here since a few...

    7 - Ferran Torres

Not bad, some tidy touches, good workrate and movement. It is however very easy to lose track of him when playing alongside more direct forwards like Adama and Auba.
  20. T

    Adama Traore

Solid player. Can reliably beat his man and his delivery into the box is surprisingly decent. If we can sort out a few deals in the summer I would like him to stay as a squad option.
