I agree that line could have perhaps been more tastefully written, but I don't think there was any ill intent. The club could have chosen to instead remain silent, but there's a tribute every year, and I'm sure something will be planned for the 30th anniversary next year.

If he doesn't go then Verratti will probably take his place. Prandelli had been testing him as a trequartista in training sessions. Other than him, Aquilani is really the only other one who would fit there. I'm not a Montolivo fan (especially for the Azzurri, because I've never been impressed...
