Reports that he is in Spain preliminary squad.

Good lad and well deserved if makes it.

Spains best defender this season.. lack of height may hinder him as DLF seems to value that in a team that lacks it quite a bit.

Why isn't he a captain? He's been at the club longer than many current captains, he's Catalan, La Masia, he was a leader in youth categories. Even Lewa was a captain in the last match while Eric played, why?

The captains should be Rapha, Eric, FDJ and Pedri.

I'm glad he is not captain because having a guy that turned his back on the club to get the petrol dollars at City a few years ago is a terrible example to have as a captain of the club.

That decision should have its consequences.

Ideally, for me, those players shouldn't ever be brought back to the club at all, even if it turned out for the best as it did was Eric and Pique. So no to Moriba, Guiu and Dro, no matter how good they turn out.

Eric should just be happy Barca saved him from rotting away on City's bench as a nobody. He may well deserve the captaincy, but, as with Don Pique, he needs to work doubly hard in order to get it.

People make mistakes. Same applies to you and I.

We also have the capacity to identify that a mistake was made and take corrective actions.

Imagine a life where you are abelled by your bad decisions, and haunted by them for the rest of it. I know i wouldn't want that for myself. I would want a life that majors in the good decisions made and positive outcomes.

There are a few positive things in life, i think it is good we take them. One of them is a lesson that you can make a mistake, receive a second chance, grab it by the throat and make something worthwhile out of it. A redemption arc sort of.

Same guy who returned through the front door and not only didn’t cost a penny but Barça actually received a few hundred thousand euros as a youth development fee from City to have trained under Pep for 3 seasons

Consequence here is an honorable Catalan kid returning to club of his home that was previously in dire straits due to Bartomeu’s decimation. Easy thing would’ve been to continue under Pep in Premiership but kid wanted to return home

No other kid that left despite being prioritized ever returned in such fashion and then thrived. He’s more blaugrana than most much less BF members

This is a well made post, of which I agree with a large majority of, which is why I said I am not fully against his redemption arc, but that it has to be bigger than most due to previous bad decision making.

You have to have some form of consequences for players selling out the club for the money bag, otherwise what sort of example does it set?

In conclusion, I'm not against him being cap, and had he not left, would be in full support of him being main captain, but for me it's too early. He needs to redeem a few more years, like Pique had to.
