My take on the Araujo situation:
The fact that he picked up another red card isn’t surprising. He’s strong and athletic, but he lacks the ability to play smart when the moment requires it. Top teams know this, and he gets exposed, especially when Barca are already struggling on the pitch.
He’s a decent player. He can be a semi-reliable squad option, especially against mid-table sides where Barca just needs bodies to win and close the game.
But against the best teams in the world? I have my doubts — especially under Flick’s playing style. He gets exposed far too often, and elite opponents like Arsenal will specifically target that weakness. Not convinced that he can perform under that level of pressure.
What this essentially means is that Barça need a reliable, WORLD-CLASS centre-back — someone who is not only athletic but also smart in decision-making. Such an addition would ease the burden on the rest of the defence, especially on Araujo. But finding a defender of that profile and actually bringing him to Barca is not easy.
