What kind of human garbage threatens people and their families on social media? I’m also frustrated with Araujo’s performances and I agree that it might be better for both parties to part ways at this point, but i would never wish anything bad to happen to him.
Trolls threaten and insult. This is as old as the internet itself. If you can't ignore this shit, better stay off Social Media then or let someone else manage your accounts like most footballers do anyways. Nobody is free from this, especially as a player who is an easy target as a public person. Getting upset over things like this is pointless.

Nobody is forcing anyone to be on social media, that's his choice.

Well, come to think about it. Maybe the club forces him? Wouldn't surprise me in this club.

I understand they are professionals and this is part of the job, every famous person faces it. I think I wouldn’t take these insults seriously, but I can’t be sure because I’m not in their shoes. What I don’t understand are the people who do this online. You really have to be an imbecile to act like that.

Unfortunately this happens to literally every player in a top club at some point in their career, when you play bad, trolls come out of the woodwork and write nonsense and threats, there is nothing to do but block or filter them.

We’re stuck under a rock and a hard place. On the one hand, our best bet of selling him on for a decent amount relies on getting everything back to normal again. He’s our captain; therefore, he should be treated as such. Play him as if nothing ever happened and promote his value (to our club) in pressers and social media. Project greatness and confidence. Short term, of course, to increase the transfer amount.

On the other hand, if he were a regular Joe at a 9-17:00 desk job who continued fucking up while being tasked with a leadership role, chances are he’d get canned/demoted in a New York minute (with or without mental health issues).

Fact is, he isn’t worthy of the captain’s armband. He continues to get outsmarted/outplayed by opponents in big games. He talks back to referees while aware of the risks in doing so (I hope). He hides from the reality of his fuck ups despite being our captain.

A bit backwards perhaps from the talking points above mentioning mental disorder, but the heart in me would like to pursue breach of contract litigation for being unavailable in crucial matches after the Chelsea incident, wage deductions, fines, stripping of his captain’s armband.

But the realpolitik guy in me prefers option one. Build him up on social media, promote him as one of our greatest defenders ever, and continue on as if nothing ever happened. Then sell him to the highest bidder in summer. This is what will generate the most value to our club.

Real Oviedo may be interested? Or Wolves?
