I don't even about being stuck in the past, it's just basic and atrocious squad planning and ignores basic requirements of the team.
As Khaled said above, the club ignores the defence when it is the key area that needs improvement.
Money game or not, Laporta and Deco have done a terrible job at spending what money Barca have to spend, from spending big on duds like Olmo to giving out new higher wage contracts ot players like Araujo, Kounde and Ter Stegen. Also putting Lewa, a player who is well into his 30s on a massive contract that hinders building other areas of the team.
No idea what goes through the mind of these fools.

Nah it has been a debate for years about how Barca could have spent funds and those that think spent well.

The fact they had little to spend and had to rely on player injuries, losing Inigo for free, losing value on Trincao future sale etc is on them if they have to do that to register players.

This season's market is not really in question because at this time we had almost no space anyway.
The markets to evaluate are the lever markets where we had spending money and over those couple years we also issue some hefty contracts and renewals.
Some decisions like the contracts gave to Lewa, Fati, Araujo etc and also decision to let go of players like Dembele were bad management.
I will add as a caveat that bad decisions are naturally highlighted much more due to our situation and top clubs make mistakes with players often, but some of those completely went against logic.
Laporta has also done well in achieving 2 LaLiga titles, though. Its not been all bad, I think the truth is in the middle.
