This goes beyond Laporta or his supporters though, and I don't mean it to defend Laporta.
It is a systematic issue in the club and its fanbase, period. Even today most of the fanbase care more about LW when we have Rapha, and will have Lewa's replacement as priority.
The club rarely valued defenders that much, they always gets cheap when it comes to defense. Get a free agent, a cheap signing, or change a midfielder position, promote a kid, whatever. Let's save money for attacking player to appease the fans.
Barca DNA is total football, that defenders must know how to pass, but isn’t really that total when we ask attackers to defend, or even defenders to defend properly.
Even Laporta's current rival, Font, is trying to sell fans he will bring Halaand.
We simply don't appreciate defense enough to care. They will promote Hafiz Gariba, Torrents or whichever defender capable of making a nice pass and call it a day.
This idiot simply hasn't received the memo or he has but refuses to acknowledge it.
Football is different nowadays. Laporta is stuck in the past. Remember his famous statement about there being no transition seasons at Barça?
It's a money game now. Even with outstanding scouting alot of teams don't win cl.
Also La Masia has become a bit of a romantic myth. The youngsters don't seem ready for three first team but are forced to play because of our finances.
This season's market is not really in question because at this time we had almost no space anyway.Lots of complaining. Very easy to do after a big loss. Happens every time. What's harder to do is coming up with solutions.
Infact, that's not even that hard to do, but you never get it in the Laporta thread. I've criticised Laporta's handling of the atmosphere in the Nou Camp Nou. Numerous suggestions on what must be done in the Camp Nou thread. Very simple. Go see.
I've yet to hear one single person here tell us what he should have done with the 27m budget that was available to us. NOT ONE. All I hear is lies about how he let Inigo go, when it was a clause in his contract that was out of his control.
I open the floor again for the thousandth time. HOW SHOULD BARCA HAVE PLANNED THE SQUAD BETTER THAN SPENDING THE 27M BUDGET ON JOAN GARCIA AND RASHFORD LOAN ???
None takes devil's (barto fan boy) and jamdav seriously on these things anyways.
Jamdav had a hand full fooled a few years ago,but most have come to there senses.

The Ronaldo Araujo that played under Xavi, would be our best signing of this window.
How do we get that back? You take off the leash you put on him. A great Araujo is a player that is super aggressive, super risky, a bull in a china shop style of defender.
Unfortunately, after the PSG game, we castrated the bull, by the whole fanbase criticising him for the above. The main things he is good at.
Araujo will never be perfect. He will always make the odd error. But so did Sergio Ramos. What Araujo can be is pretty God damn great a majority of the time, if you allow for the fact that the odd error is going to be in there.
The Araujo we have now, an emasculated, tepid, scared to tackle, passive player is no good to anyone. Not even to a low block defense.
But the fans need to take some responsibility in creating that version of Don URUGUAYO.
27M budget? Way to make up fake numbers lol. Conveniently neglect that Laporta and co were going to trigger Nico's 60M release clause AFTER already signing Garcia,
Speaking of solutions. One of your solutions has been advocating for DON URUGUAYO to play and be our new signing in defence. How did your 'bull in a china shop" fare recently against Sevilla, USA and Chelsea once "unleashed"?
lmao.
You Laporta fans make it too easy for me.
