Lionel Messi, to @sport:

“I didn't leave Barça as I had imagined to. I was left with a strange feeling after my departure because of the way everything happened, and because I finished my final years without the fans. I always pictured ending my entire European career at Barcelona and then coming here, as I have now — that was my plan and my wish. The farewell moment was also a bit strange because of the circumstances and everything surrounding it. But I believe the love of the people will always remain.”

How do you experience all the love that still comes from Barcelona? Messi: “It’s wonderful. Everything that reaches me from Barcelona, from the people and from that period we lived together, fills me with nostalgia and deep emotion.”

“Honestly, I really miss those moments [at Barça]. Maybe I enjoy them more now than I did back then, because at the time we were caught in a whirlwind of constant matches, only focused on the next game without realizing what we were achieving. Now, seeing it all calmly after more than two years, I relive those memories in a deeper and more beautiful way.”

“I spent 16 years in the Barça first team, and I think it’s been around 20 or 21 years since I arrived in Barcelona at the age of 12 or 13. It’s been a very long period, full of life experiences, and it’s only natural that the love for the club and the city will always remain.”

Happiness isn’t only about trophies. If we set aside the victories, what remains for you? Messi: “That I was part of this club. That I arrived as a small child, grew up there, and spent my whole life in Barcelona. I thank God for guiding me there when I was a kid, and I’m grateful that my children were born in that city. I have so many things I hold on to, not only from the club, but from the city itself, which was my whole life.”

Do you still follow Barcelona's matches now? Messi: “Yes, of course! Especially since many of us players [Alba, Suarez, Busi] are still together now. We always talk and share our thoughts about what’s happening at the club, discussing the results and the way they play.”

“New players arrive, new people come in, but history is never forgotten — not only with me, but with everyone who has been part of the club. There are many important people who have helped and contributed to making the club even greater.”

“I really want to go back. We miss Barcelona a lot. My children, my wife continuously talk about things related to the city, and the idea of living there again. We have our house, everything, so that's what we want.”

“I love playing football and competing. I don’t like losing to anyone. Every time I step onto the pitch, I do it with the intention of winning or at least trying to. I love competition, and that was the challenge for me and my teammates who came with me. I’m very happy with what we’ve accomplished over these years. As long as I can play and feel good physically, I’ll keep going the same way — competing, fighting, and always giving my all. When I feel that my body no longer supports me or that I’m not enjoying it anymore, that will be the right time to stop. But right now, I’m enjoying it and I feel good, that’s why I keep going.”

President of FC Barcelona
No politics from him which is good.

The last time he got involved he got burned to crisp by Laporta. Stay out of Barca politics.

Also hate to be that guy, but I think there's less than 1% chance of Messi ever playing for Barcelona again unless Laporta(he will win Presidency again) literally gets on his knees and apologizes lol.
