Ok then lets think of it another way. Yamal gave up a counter that led directly to the penalty.

He also had an assist (Sure it was a nothing assist but hey we have a defense that could have prevented a goal that was all his fault)

He created the Own Goal too. I'd say thats a net positive since we won.

1. Both Levante goals were after his lost balls.
2. Noone is denying his input. People were praising him here.

I merely noted he is (partly) to blame for Levante's goals. Pretty interesting how adding a bit realism into the topic makes people defensive.

You added enough realism with your, how do I phrase it, "interesting" comments you made about Yamal during the summer.

True. His dribbling is getting better and more spectacular, but I'd prefer he keeps the fancy tricks to a minimum personally. You still have pockets of space when you can do a fancy first touch, or some skill for the fans, but when the opponent is firm in position and close, keep it productive, with a minimum of fancy attempts to pass the player.

Obviously trying to nutmeg a player when the team is high and losing the ball is really bad stuff.

Nah, don't limit creative players. He's going to loose balls, like any player in his position. Defense needs to be prepared for it. Last thing I want is robotic sideway pass merchants.

It is not a limitation. It is an improvement. He should not atttempt risky dribbles when he is deeper and the fullback is doing an overlapp or making a run to make himself available.

Defense won't be prepared for it if his decision making is bad. When players make runs around you, and you can pass, you do it. You don't go solo. Because if you lose the ball they will get caught upfield.

He has things to improve.

When he receives the ball in space wide, near the 16m box, that's his playground, force the 1 vs 1 all the time there if you want, have at it. But deeper, this is where his game should be cleaner, simpler.

Each position has its rigors. You have to respect those. Even Messi with all his talent did. That's why he lost so few balls that led directly to conceded goals in his career.

Deeper in his own half, i agree. Further up it's fine, and he should be encouraged to do so.

It doesn't matter where he is as much, but where our defending players around him are. He could be in the opponent's half and our fullback can make an overlap or something. If in that moment he tries to dribble 2-3 players and loses the ball, vs a good team we can easily receive a goal with how exposed we are. Our fullbacks, and the two CM-DMs don't keep defensive positions off the ball. They are attacking minded as well. Like any player no matter the talent his football IQ should tell him when it's time to take risk, and when it's ill advised to do so.

Our defensive precautions off the ball under Flick are near zero. We take more risk defensively than usual to create our chances, considerably more than under any manager we ever had probably.

I don't blame him much personally for situations like the Inter play where he hit the post at 3-2. There were 3-4 defensive blunders in a row since then that caused the goal. Cubarsi, Martin, and Araujo twice. But Lamine losing the ball while trying fancy stuff while other make runs to receive a pass, that's his own blunder.
