I feel it's more on Barca, cause they should've understood (they agreed similar thing to Gundogan and Olmo just recently), and said fuck no to Nico.

So I understand Nico's view (man would've been like, but you agreed a similar deal just recently to Olmo and Gundogan, why say "no" to me), especially with the less money he was taking than he could get elsewhere.

It's also possible Barca went that route, since it's reported that Nico was the one who started pushing for the transfer.
There is no way Barca would make any concessions to Nico and his agent after last summer, he wasn't even a target this window until he begged us and even then there were rumours not everyone was in agreement still.

I agree it's more on us though, the club should wind it's fucking neck in and move players on before chasing big names they can't even register, same shit is going to happen with Diaz and when that ends in failure, Rashford; whom we'll sign on loan and still be unable to register

It's just false hope over and over again, same as the Camp Nou being ready for the Gamper, then it will get delayed again. Next we won't be able to register Garcia until the last second.

Did we ever fail to register a player? We always do it in the end. Tebas is doing some serious damage to the club. However, I agree that we really need to sort things out already.

Dude, that Olmo ordeal was a fucking disaster - that MUST have influenced the "pineapple" a lot. Olmo registration only happened because Christiansen got injured - that was stupid close. For THAT reason I understand Nico, Olmo very fucking close to NOT be registered - would have been one of the biggest fuckups from Barca ever.

We are in a better financial position this season. Nico was heavily influenced by his scum manager and because of him he will probably have an underwhelming career.

Oh for sure, no doubt my friend! That's why I have difficulty buying what Nico was saying. Whatever, even if it looked grim in July - why the fuck did he sign a new 8 year contract a couple of days after the transfer-window opened?
Anyway, fuck Nico - we might have dodged a bullet. He was never a new R9 or Ronaldinho or Neymar - he would be a decent backup. Let him continue at Bilbao. I don't even wish any bad luck on him...

Nico's agent was doing what most agents would do (protect your player). If Barca was so sure of registering him, then they shouldn't be an issue agreeing to that clause.

I think we may agree to that clause if Luis Diaz's deal progresses and his agent asks for it, cause Olmo and Gundogan had it.

Are we though. As of today we have a Zero Capacity Skeleton and no booking for Montjuic.

Laporta may have fucked up if Camp Nou isn't ready on time.

If I'm Florentino Perez I'm booking up Montjuic until January just to fuck us up.

No reliable journalist confirmed Olmo and Gundogan had that clause and those who did report that, said the deadline was late December or early January, not July.

I maintain that while Nico was open to coming, Bilbao was always his first choice. You don’t extend on a 10 year contract at the very beginning of the window out of the blue.

But it’s irrelevant.

I would be shocked if olmo didn't have that clause it was reported by too many too wildly.

Not sure who exactly is a reliable source on that.

I think his first option was to come here, and his second was to remain in Bilbao. Munich was not really an option for him, even though they really needed him and would've increased his wage.

If we agreed or negotiated on that clause, he most likely would've been a Barca player now (and the clause won't be reported when his signing is announced, so we probably won't even know, except we fail to register him and the deadline is close). What many articles reported for Gundogan was that he could leave for free if he isn't registered in time for the La Liga opener against Getafe.

It's past now, and we've still got quality players here

If his agent was primarily protecting the interest of Nico than he wouldn't have signed a 10 year contract with a team like Bilbao. That's a career long contract with a club that doesn't even play a CL football every season.

However, if a player chooses to play for Bilbao his entire career rather than some bigger club (like Barca or Bayern) than I don't want such a player to be part of FC Barcelona. This is a clear sign that he lacks ambition and confidence.

Or he has because he's now guaranteed to earn 100m euros net, no matter what happens in his career.

Can't be more protected than that, while playing for his boyhood club, in his home town.

Securing him financially, albeit it's a bad decision (in terms of winning stuff) from a footballing standpoint.
