I just hope we won't be like Madrid with Mbappe and continue to suck him off season after season until he finally agrees to come. We should listen to Cruyff and live by it:

"If you have doubts about playing for Barca, we don't need you here".


But chances are small we'll be so stupid. Laporta will be furious, Nico isn't Mbappe and the club was hesitant to begin with after last summer. Now that goes 10 times, especially for the new fee of around 100m.

Agreed. Only way he comes here now, under Laporta, is if he retains a 60m Barca clause. Don't Bilbao will put that, but then he is giving them another season.

I reckon once the dust settled, he probably got convinced by bro and entourage to do the CL with Bilbao. Once in a lifetime opportunity that. They will be back there in 2035, when his contract expires.

Why would Bilbao even have a clause like that?
Lose Lose situation.

Gets more money and retains a similar price for just a year or so, just to go to Barca. Nah.
No sane club would agree to that.

Agree with you, unlikely. Leverage was with Nico though, so it is possible as a condition of renewal.

Let's be honest - the left wingers market is poor. All hope is that the guy from Dinamo Zagreb will really become a top player. He has potential. For those who follow the youth team actively. What do you think about Jan Virgili?

Couldn’t understand the hysteria over him at all. Decent player but certainly not worth the constant news stories and hype about his signing.

Bilbao are just going to hope someone is desperate enough to trigger the higher release clause.

If Deco was a proper SD he would have gone for Gittens as no1 choice.
21 yr old, better dribbler than Nico, higher ceiling overall, low wages.

Chelsea got him from BvB for 55m

LW market is not poor. Our SD department is poor
