Who the hell doesn't want Nico Williams. An Euro winner as a starter, who scored key goals at the highest level, with a great age, and comes under price market for a sum you see attackers moving in EPL all the time from bottom table teams even.

Don't think you need examples of "great" Euro players from the past that never made it "great" on club level. There are literally whole teams as examples.

Man Utd have been running down Mbeumo for weeks now and have had a 63.5m pounds, 73m euros bid rejected.
We are about to close Nico for 60m euros, even if he doesn't become world class that's a great deal.
Because I'm damn sure Mbeumo will never be.
Everyone just needs to relax, we are about to sign a 90m+ player for relative peanuts, such is the pull of FC Barcelona.

And I can probably give you many more examples of players who didn't have a great euro and never made it big on club level. I'd prefer a player who showed he can score big goals under pressure vs top tier opposition. Even if there's no guarantees in football.
Starters in offense for Spain, France, England, and the rest of the top tier NTs out there don't usually come for 50-60m. Those are market opportunities you need to take when they present themselves.

If we could sell Araujo and Stegen, and they'd actually be of some important worth for anyone but Spanish Barca-based press, all of this would be a non-issue. Not only we could sign Nico, but we'd probably make 1-2 signings in defense to improve the team even more, with minimal or zero squad cost since those two are known CL terrorists.
But nobody important wants them. Nobody important wants Stegen even for free to help us offload his wages, and nobody wants Araujo on anything close to the 60m valuation the club set for him. That's the reality that makes registering Nico a tough one to pull off.
Serious clubs only want players we need. And our bums, after getting used to Barca status for so many years, won't move to a club that is 2-3 tiers bellow. Too much ego for that.

Don't know why would you mention players that never made it anywhere. It's a non-issue. This is Barca. If we are spending big then there is certain level of expectation.
I prefer a player that consistently showed his ability. And faith in Barca.

Except this Nico sum is not spending big in 2025. 50-60m is the sum you pay for some good players that usually showed far less than being decisive in elite competition in the final stages.
Let's look at Spain, England, France starting wide players. Nico, Yamal, Doue/Barcola, Saka, Foden, Bellingham, Dembele. Only Nico can be signed for such a low sum.
Maybe you have other name in mind, that I'm missing. Someone offering more proven quality at the top for less money to improve our wings. Luis Diaz is much older and more expensive btw. Our initial target according to the Barca press.
