Laia Alexandri is returning home, great news.

FC Barcelona women's team will have a luxury addition next season in Laia Aleixandri. The Catalan defender, who turns 25 in August, will end her contract with Manchester City and join on a free transfer after the deal was finalized. She will sign a four-year contract, according to Sport on Monday.

Aleixandri will thus return to her former home after having played five seasons at Atlético de Madrid and three at Manchester City.

Laia arrives to bolster the defensive line and will bring experience and versatility to the Blaugrana team, as she can play naturally in the center of defense, on the wing, or further forward in the pivot.

9-0 win away at Betis to clinch 6th consecutive La Liga title and 10th overall. :barcaflag:

Pina with a hat-trick, Pajor and Alexia with two goals and Aitana and Brugts scored too. A bit surprising Gemma Font started today because Cata Coll needed to play just 60 more minutes to earn her first Zamora. So she'll have to wait until next week when we play at Johan against Athletic.

Betis played with ten for more than an hour after their GK received a red card. And with this loss they are mathematically relegated to Segunda (alongside Valencia) before last round.

Tbf this team has shown much more vulnerability in Liga F this season than over last few years which was probably down to a coaching change (while I think Pere is a downgrade from Jona he's not a bad coach but he just needed time to install some of his ideas), new players to setttle in and above all complacency in some games. Madrid is improving every season but we are still 3-4 levels above any other team in this league which longterm will probably be our downfall as will be harder to keep top players (they will still come here but leave after a few seasons) and we also lack serious domestic games before facing likes of Lyon, PSG, Chelsea or Arsenal in UWCL. But that's a problem we'll have to deal with in coming years what's important for now is it looks like we are in top form just in time for both finals - UWCL against Arsenal this Saturday and then CDR final vs Atleti in three weeks.

Nice summary, I have watched them a lot and concur - but I’d add a lot of great positives as well. Sydney Schertenleib is a real bijou - I can’t wait to see her development as a player, I think there is something special in her game. Jana is a key protagonist along with Pina but I am not happy with how little Vicky has been used this season. Brugts is such a weapon with her pace & nose for goal which mitigates loss of Bronze or diminished role of Rolfo

Kika started season better but still struggled to impose her game even before her unfortunate injury. Pajor has been a predictable revelation, a bonafide poacher who is perfect in this setup like David Villa

But her prominence has come at the expense, at times, of seeing Salma and Caro’s involvement diminish but Alexia’s re-emergence has been worth it. I just wonder how that tandem with Aitana & Caro works since those 2 really had wonderful chemistry last season that I see far too little of under Romeu. What happens to Salma’s role? Is she going to be effective as a LW? Their chemistry will evolve over time together too

Rumour that Engen will exit which is fine so long as Mapi continues while Rolfo‘s contributions are increasingly limited

I think the only area they need reinforcement is in pace with either a lateral or winger and a central defender to develop into the rotation

Yes, very excited about Sydney's potential too.

I like Engen's versatility but there were reports she already wanted to leave in January. Can't blame her if she wants to play more. I agree we'll be fine if she leaves and get Laia Aleixandri as reported. She'll probably be a longterm replacement for Paredes. AFAIK Irene's contract is also up next month but I assume club is already working on renewal.

Pere started to give minutes to some of the B team players late in the season which is also nice to see. We'll see if any of them can make a step up next season but it's clearly very hard to get into this team. After winning the Primera Federacion (2nd league) in previous two years Barca B finished midtable this season which is fine as long as the players are developing but bothers me a little we finished a spot below Madrid B on goal difference.

We also have some solid players out on loans. I've read few days ago Martina Fernandez had a very good season at Everton. She could potentially come in for Marta if she'll retire (BTW, didn't knew Marta and Caro are engaged). Meanwhile Bruna Vilamala didn't play all that much at Brighton. Really had high hopes for her when she made a breakthrough years ago but injuries ruined her. Still only 22 and has a year left on contract but wouldn't be surprised if club would decide to move on. Giulia Dragoni got some experience playing for Roma too but won't turn 19 until November and with quality and depth we have at attacking positions she's probably looking at another loan.

Yeah, just a shame about Dragoni — I thought I saw a photo of her recovering in a hospital, injured?

Dragoni is a very interesting talent, a bit Pina lite for me

No idea, it's still hard to find reliable news about women's football in general. Sites like TM or whoscored should start covering women's football.

I've seen here https://www.fotmob.com/en-GB/players/1422334/giulia-dragoni she last played a month ago against Inter so missed some matches in the Championship round of Serie A where top 5 teams from regular season play each other twice. But she played over 1.000 total league minutes for Roma who finished 3rd in Serie A so not bad at all at her age.

I was disappointed she was sent out on loan but knew she’d need minutes - yep, right ankle ligament repair

Her recovery complicates the plans with her, wonder if loan gets extended or they recall her to Barça

That and the revelation that the pre-match for the UWCL final will include both Alexia & Aitana - epic
