Gerrard is definitely one of the most complete players ever.

Clearly his haters here have never watched him play.

The fact that people here think that this is a controversial opinion is hilarious. It's one of the most obvious opinions in the Football world. Hating on me won't change that.

What a strangely midget club to mock us for our CL exit that way. You'd think with all their trophies they would be above that. Goes to show that they always feel insecure when compared to Daddy Barca.

BTW, do they still not have an English-speaking forum besides the subreddit? It's weird to me how their online fanbase isn't as great as their trophy cabinet.

Like how many traits you want in a midfielder, you would say Gerard was a top 5 in this century at?
Long range shooting(not even a debate; he might be the best here)
Shot Power
Pace(for a midfielder; there are many faster wingers obviously; Gerrard was rapid for a midfielder)
Leadership
Clutch Moments
Stamina, Tenacity and Energy
Finishing(again, this is only amongst midfielders)

Other qualities he was great at but not top 5 in this century:

Long passing
Through balls
Vision
Tackling(especially slide tackles)
Strength and physical power
Set pieces and penalties
Heading and aerial ability
Ball carrying

Love him or hate him, you can't deny how complete and well rounded he was.

Be honest, the McAllister video I shared compelled you to share that opinion about Gerrard.

Long shots is the worst attempts in football, and the likes of Pirlo, Alonso, Juninho were better than him. Juninho alone kills the "no debate" statement. The likes of Beckham and Lampard were better.

Gerard wasn't in the top 5 in agility, finishing nor power. Tons if players were better there. He wasn't clutch either.

Again, Gerard was the ultimate "jack of all trades" player. Any team would have loved to have him.

But when compared to legends, he simply loses it against most if not all.

From set pieces not from open play. There's a huge difference.

Gerrard has arguably the best shot from distance.

Show me a better collection of long shots than this:

With all their trophies they know neither of their teams achieved the level of football several Barca teams reached.

Madrid fans are not dumb. They know the elite Barca sides were unplayable in a way their team never got close to being.

The level of dominating strongest football competition on the planet for nearly a decade?

I always wondered how Messi would look in Madrid side with Madrid mentality. Probably would have won three consecutive trebles. Lol.

5-0, about 3-4 4-0s, many 3-0s, a 6-2, some 5-1s, a 5-2...

We lost count of Barca beatdowns handed to Madrid in the last 15-20 years.

Madrid players being brought to such inferiority feeling and hopelessness that Marcelo, Ramos, Pepe, Isco and some others tried to injure Barca players because they couldn't cope with the humiliation...

You may beat every other team in Europe, but dominating and outplaying Barca was something Madrid couldn't do, ending up being humbled and outclassed many times.

It is what it is. Madrid with titles above all, Barca with the football artistry. There's jelousy on both sides.

Nobody wins the CL like Madrid, and nobody plays football like Barca.

Messi would never have looked at his best in a robotic team like Madrid. He is a player of artistry that belonged in a team with far higher ambitions about how to play, than put the ball wide and cross it in the box football.

Gerard's wiki intro. At one point, Pele, Zidane and Maldini called him the best player in the world too. Suarez said Gerrard was the best midfielder he ever played with in a Barca YouTube channel interview.

Also he was insane in terms of eye test. Could do everything to a very high level. Easily one of the most complete players ever.

"Steven George Gerrard (born 30 May 1980) is an English professional football manager and former player. Widely regarded as one of Liverpool's greatest ever players and also as one of the greatest midfielders of all time, Gerrard spent the majority of his playing career as a central midfielder for Liverpool and the England national team, captaining both."
Torres also said this about Gerrard despite who he played with for NT

I can’t wait to play with Stevie again. I just wanted to have the chance to play with him, even if it is just one last time. I have said many times that Stevie is the best player that I have played with – by far.
