Guys, let's make sure to be respectful to posters with different opinions than your own. There's a lot of baiting and insults going on. Let's cut that out please.

Thanks

Part of me wants to get 5th place, because we need an upheaval to move forward. Getting 4th every season doesn't mean anything. It's nothing to be proud of. The only thing to be proud of is winning, and believing anything else is having a loser's mentality. All getting 4th does is qualify us for the champions league, only for us to get knocked out and be proud of qualifying again. It's like that movie where Bill Murray is repeating the same day over and over again.

At some point, something has to change. We're the laughingstock of football.

You forget the part where 4th brings us a lot of money. Top 4 is the 3rd biggest trophy, after the EPL and UCL.

What is it you want Robbie? City and Chelsea have won 4 of the last 8 league titles and between them they have spent roughly £2 billion. Liverpool have shown that even if you go out and spend £100m it won't take you very far. We need top 4 for the money, and with a brilliant manager like Wenger who makes smart purchases it will make us stronger. For now we have to make a profit every year, we have to sell players. Honestly, considering the money that the like of Spurs and Pool have spent we're punching above our weight to finish top 4. We have a brilliant manager and that's what counts.

WTF top 4 is not a trophy. Stop saying that! It's embarrassing :icon_neutral:

We can't even call ourselves midtable because at least Birmingham and Liverpool can win their micky mouse trophies. We choke in the carling cup. THE CARLING CUP. Any smart purchase Wenger makes will just leave us when they get good enough to. Toral, Bellerin, Eisfeld, etc. All 3 will be playing for one of the manchesters or barca in a few years. When a brainless sprinter like Theo can use us as a stepping stone, it's almost a joke at this point.

If you want to see what Kroenke will turn Arsenal into, look at what he did to the Colorado Avalanche & Denver Nuggets. Here's a hint: they don't even compete anymore and make "smart purchases" of youth talent while sinking further into obscurity every new season.

No, it isn't. It may be important, and it may be a sign of a decent side, but it's not a trophy. No one will remember that Arsenal ended in the top four, it means nothing to anyone. Top four is a means to an end, and end you're no where near reaching.

You guys have to admit that with the current squad, top 4 would be an achievement indeed. What Arsenal needs to do is weed out its poor players (i.e. Gervinho, Ramsey, Chamakh, probably Arshavin just because of his age) and find someone who would buy them for a relatively low price, maybe an MLS club. Then, they need to look for inexpensive players to beef up their midfield and get more wingers. Henry must come, of course, as well as Huntelaar. Iago Aspas is worth a look, as is Koke, maybe try to get a player from Shaktar as well.

Finishing in the top four is understandably quite important, but considering a top 4 finish a trophy just because it 'bring lots of money' while labelling the other trophies as 'mickey mouse' cups is embarrassing.

Why would Koke move from a top 4 in Spain to a top 4 in England!?

Atleti are probably the 3rd strongest in Spain, while Arsenal are barely in the top four.

So you think that Arsenal should rather win the mickey mouse or FA cup than achieve top 4?

If we kept RVP things would have been very different. It proves that we should have splashed BIG money on a world class striker, to replace a world class striker we just lost. 40 or 50mil for Falcao + 150k per week, just to jog in the same place, barely replacing RVP instead of giving him what he wanted. Why did we allow Nasri's contract situation to get to that point? Everything has gotten much worse since Gazidis was brought in to supposedly turn us around. The only ones laughing now are the board, who made millions from the sales of Cesc/Nasri/RVP.

All they are interested in is getting 4th place to jog in the same place every year. Keep that money rolling and keep their pockets filled. Meanwhile we win nothing and more players get fed up and leave. Like I said before, getting 5th place might be a blessing in disguise. A wake-up call to get our shit together.
