The time to rest was against Atletico Madrid.

Now we are forced to rest just to prevent further injuries, but I would do minimal rotations.

Imo considering the squad we have, we should decide which competition to focus on more. I think for the copa del rey (throughout the whole competition) we should have more or less played only with the reserves.

I agree the effort vs Atletico cost us considering we had 2 tough games after that away from home with Bilbao and Atletico. But we had to try it, it was a semifinal for another title.

We need to beat Sevilla by any means possible, do the job vs Newcastle, and then use the NT break to recharge for the vital part of the season. Hopefully we get some players back for CL quarters.

People are paying way too much attention to the performance here honestly, even at full strength we would probably have played the same, think about the first 25 minutes the last game & that the players are both physically & mentally drained from the atletico game.

It was a results game today & we got one.
Take it & move on.

The Atletico game was a game they sat in and barely came out their own third.

Players then had 4 days before next game and most did not play 90 minutes at weekend v Bilbao.

That game hasnt had the impact some make out.

Barca had running last night.. just very little quality.

Dont get excuses about being pumped 4-0 away by Atletico and tired when poor v Girona shortly after and dont get it now either.

Yep. Newcastle gave us an equally tough night in MD1 too. We didn't really solve that any better bar the Rashford wonder strikes.

Were clearly far from our best this season, mainly because we dropped so many players in a short turn around, but this game gives us problems any time of the season.

Barca were far far better in the first game v Newcastle than last night and against a stronger Newcastle also.

To point Newcastle fans were saying it is the best midfield have ever seen at St James park as took over the game.

Howe himself said Barca midfield took game away from them after starting well.

There was none of that last night at all.

They were without starting their RB, CB, best midfielder and best attacker last night and still had far easier night.

It looked like Newcastle v a lower league team in cup.

Barca got away with one big time there.

And if all that were true, we still wouldn't have won without a wonder striker from rashford.

So at our best the most we would have gotten from that game was a draw and we also could have easily lost if they finished better the time they were dominant.

No imagine if we weren't at our best. Which we wouldn't have been yesterday even with a full strength team.

A draw away to Newcastle is our standard result, unless one player has or pulls off a worldie.

No.. top strikes can still win game.

Barca were far far better that first game and against a better Newcastle.

Newcastle have majority of best players missing from starting line up and in terrible form currently.

Worst kind of mental gymnastics to make out games are same other than Rashford strike.

Pedri was a shadow of himself from first game for example.

Barca would have been far far better with full strength team.

Bernal is nowhere near FDJ. Araujo is not close to Kounde etc. Balde would be more useful at LB than Cancelo.

Newcastle had a poorer line up last night.

Newcastle are in worse form.

Newcastle were by far the better team last night.

In game earlier in season Barca were clearly the better side despite also missing a lot of players and up against stronger Newcastle.

Can just as easily say 'bar a Newcastle defender' howler Barca get beat last night.

Irrelevant as happened.

Chances for screamer to help win games increase when can dominate the ball and get in final 3rd more often anyway.

Jamdav hears us saying the players were mentally and physically drained the draw was good because it's unlikely that if we were at full strength the result would have been different.

What he hears is. If de jong would have played we wouldn't have gotten a significantly better performance or a better result.

😂
