Best chance Bilbao had was due to his mistake.

He's been massively overrated.
What do you think is overrated about him?

Stop expecting every academy kid to show Lamine levels of impact

He's shown extreme maturity and calmness and even delivered a good performance vs team like Atletico.. at 18 years old

It's impressive

He needs more developement of course. But if you don't see the talent I don't know what to tell you

Why would Flick take him of before Casado? Made 0 sense, he needs minutes...
Marc Bernal, before the game against Athletic Bilbao, felt stomach discomfort, to the point of vomiting on a couple of occasions. But he insisted that he could play, as he didn't want to let Hansi Flick down. [@gbsans]

I like the lad but fucking hell he and Pedri were bullied.

Out muscled and as a pair so fucking slow.

Need to improve massively for next week.

They are too physically limited to not be better on ball than that.

I think he's got talent but wouldn't count on him. No matter how talented you are, there's a minimum of physical qualifications you need in order to play modern top football. Not just strength or pace, but lightness, dynamism, overall athleticism.

A player like Pedri is currently cutting it very close, and despite his abundance of talent (a good deal more than Bernal) he clearly has his struggles.

Bernal just doesn't meet that minimum. I don't know if it's genetics or body mechanics or what it is. Some people just have a heavy ass, they move more slowly, laboriously than others. It's not something you can really train away. There are obviously games in which he will be ok, situations that won't pressure him in that way. But long term I don't see it.

Busquets is obviously a reference, but I think he was both more talented and lighter on his feet than Bernal.
Saw this coming two years ago.

As I said: overrated.

He will need to think faster and smarter as that's the only way to overcome how slow he is.
For that he needs to have minutes. He is still just 18y old kid. Busi at 18y of age was playing in Tercera division while Marc was yesterday playing a very hard CL game. One of the hardest part of growing up and getting the first team minutes is adapting to the change of speed between youth and professional football.

-4th start of the season
-First CL start
-First game going past 70 minutes.

Yeah, the lad will be fine and is still clearly a work in progress fitness wise for this level. While Pedri is still returning to match fitness and himself having to manage his load.

Nothing much to see here really, Newcastle caught us on our worst night. Like Buster Douglas catching Tyson in Tokyo after him going crazy in Japanese women's p***y after discovery they really do run horizontal.
