Right. But then, we are not without flaws.
Nobody is without flaws. It's impossible to be without, because you'd need to be a fortune teller. Every club has failed transfers. The difference is just, while they don't care and easily replace them, we spend our last € and have to field these players for the foreseeable future.

I haven't seen such a bad performance since the 8-2 and if atletico finished better in the first half and cared to attack in the 2nd where every time they did choose to attack they got at us, it could have been 8-2

We had no one in midfield yesterday to put their foot on the ball and take responsibility.

We had no one in the team to get up and match their intensity.

We know who those two players are

Yamal/Pedri/Raphinha are our most important players.

Yamal
Pedri
Raphinha

Our best players.

But even without those two, the performance was embarrassing from a tactical prospective.

Nothing to do now, but put 110% focus on the league.

RS v atletico should be a good final

We are a young team, especially yesterday's starter XI. Someone can do the math what was the average age in our starting eleven compared to Atletico's.

Obviously when something happens like Joan Garcia's fumble, it will shock the team. Before that goal we weren't even playing that bad. The game was 0-2 when Fermin hit the crossbar. I honestly think our young team would have gotten a massive boost from that goal like we have seen so many times before last season already but somehow we have been extra unlucky with our scoring lately. Like how many times have we hit the post? Too fucking many for my liking. That luck has to turn at some point.

Truth is apart from a few wins vs a struggling Madrid and the Bayern win at home, we haven't beaten any big teams in Flick's tenure, especially when it mattered.

Folk acting like Barca cant cope without Pedri.

Pedri played as Barca lost 4-1 away to Sevilla and has played as lost 4-2 away to Osasuna last season and was poor on both. Lost away to Moncao when poor, was losing 3-1 away to Benfica before Frenkie on.

Lost games at home to likes of Leganes, Las Palmas.. losing away to Vallodolid the worst team in league last season.

Pedri was shit when Barca struggling and drawing at home to Girona before late winner after he went off and team improved.

Pedri was poor away to Oviedo when Barca losing at HT and Frenkie comes on to swing the game and take it over.

Pedri was atrocious in last game away to Sparta Prague.. team got better and won it after he was off.

Pedri was shit away to Sevilla which was every bit as bad a game as last night v far inferior side.

Pedri was poor as Barca drew away to Rayo.

Pedri was poor as got beat at home to PSG.

Pedri was poor as got beat away to Real.. when they should have scored more.

These games happen with all players no one is immune from it.

But doesnt suit the narrative.

Exactly. Not every 40-50m signing is gonna turn into a key player for you.

Rich clubs keep those 40-50m signings as squad players no issues. Medium rich clubs sell them and buy better if possible. Poor clubs like us have them as starters regardless if they are great or just good in a non special way.

Olmo and Ferran both contributed to titles but they are not special players to make a difference individually in bigger games, and they will probably never be of that very high quality. The only player we signed of the 4 that brings something extra in big games is Raphinha.

That is true, but to be expected. We still beat good sides, just haven't been able to do the same to higher level teams in bigger games. I frankly expected that. It's a brige too far for what we have going currently.

I keep repeating this but the last time we beat elite sides in really big, decisive games was 2014-15. Over a decade ago.

Fix 1/2 positions in our defence and not have pedri or raphinha injured and we can take on any side. Heck, on a good day even with this defense. We have Joan Garcia now.

Okay bar Arsenal Chelsea and City

Not that we are spending and getting players we want like any of the top teams either. It is what is. Keeping that in mind Flick has done extremely well so far and last night's fiasco won't change any of that.

Yamal be bigger miss and Frenkie also a big drop off.

Basically need those 4 primarily to be fit and on form and fullbacks to be in form also to have much chance.

Then a bench behind that.

4.1 or 4.0. Remember 2019 when Dembele missed the 4 zero. Three zero was nothing for Liverpool.

The issue of this team is the score management, they can't change their attitude to control more the games. It is ok to lose but avoid something like 4 zero.
