@serghei, while discussing Xavi's replacement, you said that you can't expect titles and playing well without hundreds of millions.

Flick comes and delivers.

Nothing wrong in being wrong. I doubted Flick too.

But now you are saying we should expect the Champions league.

I missed the part where we spent those hundreds of millions.

No, we should not expect Champions League. Who said that? I said the polar opposite. If anything, I said several times that the main reason why we got that far last year was because we mostly had weaker opposition in the knockouts.

Aye, btw, our squad is still not good enough to compete vs top 3-4 sides. So... despite recent improvements, that step is still not reached. We'd still be underdogs vs top EPL sides, PSG, Bayern.

Just that Madrid dropped too. That's the only difference. Arsenal moved up though into the top 3-4 sides in their place.

Nothing there is relevant to what has been said.

Fairly sure were claiming Real favs with Liverpool for CL not that long ago also.

Lets see.

We mostly have the Bayern 4-1 win as the exception, rest is mixed bag in big games in CL. Beaten by PSG at home by their reserves, trashed by Chelsea 3-0, knocked out by a poor Inter.

Benfica and last season's Dortmund are not what you'd refer to as top teams. It's an improvement, but not by that much in terms of results. We are yet to truly prove ourselves vs top opponents in Europe.

Was not PSG reserves and Barca were missing players and had Yamal not fully fit either.. and they are CL holders.

If want to go to group games then can add to those other teams Barca got beat by in past Bayern/Inter etc.

But as for favourable runs.. going out three years on trot to teams like Utd, Frankfurt and poor PSG after also failing to get out if group isnt good enough and Flick will get it tight if Barca do the same.

Also Barca won x3 trophies while getting to CL semis... cant even be compared to getting scudded in Europe by average teams every season and getting scudded in cup.

I don't care that much about pre 2022-23 season since the team was far weaker with budget signings. It bears no resemblance to the current squad.

Don't think it's that bad to lose vs United by 1 goal. Is getting dunked by Chelsea 3-0 better or something? You may agree or not, but we haven't really done much in CL vs top teams from bigger leagues.

Nonsense... Barca had better squad than Frankfurt.

Rangers went closer to beating them than Barca.

Going out in Group and to Man Utd in Europa and an average PSG in CL were all after that.

So what? We had better squad than Inter also. Things happen in cup competitions. Like it happened that Brugges should have beaten us by 4-3 if not for a ref bailout despite having a much weaker squad.
