more likely the the quality of the opponent or rather the lack there of.Rested for one game and delivers immediately. Maybe there is a connection

Why not both ?more likely the the quality of the opponent or rather the lack there of.
He is 18, he will be a beast physically by 25.Don't have much faith in him as I don't see the physical attributes needed to make it. Mistakes here and there and brainfarts can be ironed out once he matures but he will not be presence in air nor fast enough. To win the Champions League you have to have players with certain atrributes. There is no Ronald Koeman, Rafa Marquez, Carles Puyol, Gerard Pique or Javier Mascherano here.
Pique is absolutely miles ahead of Cubarsi. He was scapegoated especially at the end but nah man Cubarsi will never reach that levelPique at 18 was loaned to Zaragoza, not fast and despite his height, also not a presence in the air. Also had disciplinary and concentration issues throughout his entire career due to his degenerated character. Too many times everyone said "no more Puyol or Mascherano to straighten him out" once they left.
He can make it at least to Pique's level easily. Pique without Puyol, Alves, Abidal, Yaya, Busquets as defensive partners in this Flick high line would have been completely toast at 18 (or even 30 tbh).
