14 - Marcus Rashford

Not to defend Rashford but this is a common phenomenon when coming on in a high intensity game without proper warmup. A couple of sprints and you're completely gassed. It goes back to normal after taking it easy for a couple of minutes. For Rashford it was either counter-attack or tracking back, so there was no chance to recover. Has nothing to do with stamina really.

That said, one would think a professional footballer should avoid this, so it's no excuse.

1 goal up with 3 minutes to go in a cup final and they are outnumbering us 9 to 5 in our penalty box.

That is unheard of, even at schoolboy level.

Shocking stuff.

We all love Flick, but honestly, his biggest weakness is seeing games out in the final moments. Has cost us before big time ( Inter ) and with the two late sitters Madrid missed, should have cost us again.

Maybe the humidity was another factor in his condition, the jet lag maybe.. because he usually does the defensive phase very well.

I prefer him instead an inexperienced player, because as a sub you have to bring value right away in moments like the first part of the season when he helped the team a lot during Rapha's injury. But that if it's possible to be done without any major financial risk. I hope he'll accept a massive paycut to play at the highest level or would be great if we can loan him another year for 5mil and he'll get a good portion of his money.

I think there's room for him to improve and play better than he did this season, takes care of his body, he's experienced, already adapted in a way and knows the club, the city, etc.

This was the first time when he didn't run although he could've and should've press, no excuse, I was very mad for that.. but we can't judge 6 months over this thing, he also did a lot of good things.

There are talks of us trying to go for a loan next year too.

Lel, love it. I actually don't mind it. Financially this is good for us.
Also we are trying to lower the buyout fees.

All shows, we are actively trying to reduce his cost. Which is all I want.
As a backup/ semi starter, he is a bit expensive. 20m odd buyout, with 10-12m wage is kinda grand for him.

If Rashford only wants the Barca move then the ball is in our court.

Man Utd already showed their paper hand with how they handled Anthony to Betis and caving into a deal that suited Betis by the end of the window.

This one might end the same.

Don't mind him on the right demands. Depth is paramount.

Wouldn't mind El Mala either. Haven't watched him but the YT shows he has some desirable traits.

Gassed after 10 minutes of game time. Good excuse.

Imagine they scored this. I can understand he's not good enough with the ball but this shouldn't fly with Yamal, let alone this lazy bum.

Holy shit! 9 madrillos in the box against 4 of our guys. Flick must've been furious, hopefully. Ah, excuse me, it's 5, but they ain't covering shit, just pursed around goal doing nothing. Amazin'.

Could it be frustration because he didnt start? I mean it was a final vs Real every player wants to start, especially a Rashy who came in a loan. Otherwise i cant see reasons why he didnt stop/tried to stop Mbappe there.

I mean, 99 % of the time the Barca players are never in this type of situation where they have to defend with 10 in their own box. This only happens for a few minutes in important knockout games in extra time like Inter last season and now in the Supercopa. They have no clue what to do in this situation, the forwards Yamal and Rashford are waiting further forward for a possible counterattack instead of helping out in the box to match the numbers.

I agree Flick better analyse and talk with the squad about these situations. This happens very rarely but when it happens it's always in crucial knockout game moments. Not being able to defend a lead for 5 minutes is a joke at this level.
