News from bein and Filgoal (Egypt's top football site) are both saying that deal is very close and that Barca latest offer is fairly satisfactory.

On another news, he just picked a minor injury an hour ago in a meaningless league cup game

It is rumoured to be a loan + buy option. If so, it shouldn't affect our winter signings.
Initially a six-month loan, a €1.5m buy option in June, €3.5m in add-ons, and 15% of a future sale

Has anyone seen this player? I suppose he trains with 1st but primarily for the B team

Seems like a cat in the sack. According to Transfermarkt, this year he only played in U17 tournaments and friendlies, doesn't play in the Egyptian Premier League at all. Can't be a huge talent, if he isn't playing even in the Egyptian league. Also born 01.01. is not always, but often a sign of fake birthday.

I didn't, but I know plenty of those who watched him.

It is a bit of bipolar opinions, depending on the context of where you watched him.

Those who watched him with Egypt's U-17 were impressed, saying he is a very smart modern attacker, great off the ball movement and read for the game, knows how to attach space, and fairly physical. He lacks a bit of technical touch with his passing and ball control.

Those who watched him with Ahly first team were left wondering why are we even after him. That he isn't anywhere the level of Ahly or the Egyptian league (which is fairly a respectable league if you get your mind outside of the top European football) and that his technical weaknesses were really highlighted there.

A bit of context though is that he featured in the league cup, which is played without NT players. Almost their entire XI are out and they are playing with B team, while opponents are playing with their strongest teams (Ahly lost 3 of 4 games and are last in their group). So, he is in a bit of disadvantage (playing with kids against adults). He also has his mind on the Barca deal.

Ahly was seeing him as their future no9, and it is why they were pain in the ass during negotiations.

Historically they aren't a selling club even for Europe, they wasted the chance of many prospects to go to Europe because of that. Including once a previous prospect who had a chance to join Barca's 1987 generation 25 years ago. I am surprised Barca got such a deal tbh. They probably caved under media pressure.

An Abdul Aziz kind of punt then. His BO clause was 5m last season.

If he's half decent then there's a pathway to get serious minutes at the B with all the injuries.

Will reserve opinion until I seem him play there.

Decent comparison for the deal, albeit Hamza is younger and Aziz is 1.63m in height which is always a massive challenge in professional football.

Hamza also plays in a more desirable position as the RW talent in Barca or worldwide are much bigger.

If Hamza isn't a total bust, I expect us to buy him. I surely hope he makes it here, but if not I think there is a good chance of being a guy to profit from.

What's the plan with this kid?
Loan him out to some LL side?

B team.

The Beletti squad was dismantled with injuries. They lack a CF with V.Barbera out with injury. He will fill that gap, and hopefully help them getting promoted. That is the 6 months loan period. Then we go from there.

If we buy him, you can expect a pre-season with first team and then a loan.

He might not be huge talent, because those are rare anyway. But not for those reasons you mentioned.

There is unwritten rule here that those who were born in the last 2 weeks of December or early days of January they will allaw you to register your newborn at 1st of January and as it is a "cool" date, while those born in October first few weeks can be registered as born on first of October (school deadline) so their kids can go to school a bit early.

It is possibly fake DOB but just about 2 weeks or something. It is about birthday rather than falsifying age. The later was once fairly possible back in the day, but not in his generation. And Egypt has no history of doing that for footballers. We barely have any success in youth levels. Our U17 history is laughable.

Obviously he didn't play in first team, it rarely happens for U23 players in a team like Ahly. He just became 18. They are the biggest team in Africa by wide margin and invest so little in developing youth. They wasted plenty of talents before due to that.

Even NT, in the game against South Africa, Marmoush was the youngest player in the starting lineup and he is 26, only one other player was younger than 29. Overall 7 were over 30. The youngst player that was called in the squad for the ACN is 24. This is fairly common, and big reason we were left behind in the past 15 years.

I've seriously seen some players being called prospects at the age of 25.

Salah had 46 minutes in the league at his age, he became a starter 6 months later in a team that finished dead last in the league. Fair to say he proved himself as a big talent.

Salah’s discovery is linked to my Suisse and the Port Said stadium tragedy and a friendly organized between FC Basel & U23 side as the Egyptian league was indefinitely suspended

Best part I read is that Mo had to beg on air to let his parent club allow him to go to Switzerland before the move materialized following the impressive substitution performance in the aforementioned friendly. He had a slow start too at Basel, the fans & club officials used to joke Mo had a twin brother and perhaps they signed the wrong one…just before he started to explode

I still recall his debut with Basel, he was a freak of nature
