This argument doesn't hold water mate. It's not acceptable to ship in 7 vs Brugges and Sevilla ffs. We're talking 7 conceded, but should have been 8 (4 today), and Brugges and Sevilla missed 4-5 easy goals combined.

I mean, it gets very sily very fast.

Last season's defense was a 6/10 at best. If that's our best form of defense under him, it's a terrible plan. That shite should improve, not go down even more to comical levels.

Look I never saw Flick as a long term or legacy coach. I looked forward to one or two seasons of kamakazi football and anything to get out of our Barca DNA bs.

It worked for a season and I think this will be his last one here.

Kamakazi football is a great approach when you have not much to lose - a you g team, no big names and no funds to buy players. Just outrun and go crazy every time you get on the pitch.

Long term team building will never work with that approach and I think that's fine. Flick gave us what we needed last season. Now with the camp nou opening and a couple of WC talents like Pedri and Lamine (and fdj) - we should look to finding a coach we can build with for the medium term to long term.

There's also the terrible thought of us putting up a disasterclass defending performance vs an inspired elite side and then getting stuffed by conceding 6-7 goals. If you defend like that and Brugges can score 4, what stops a full form Bayern from scoring 7?

Only reason PSG won't do it is because Lucho is there and they will show mercy.

literally any team playing first division football can score 4 or more against us. every attack any opponent makes looks deadly. we are wide open all game long. it's so risky it isn't worth it.

He's a very young manager, and needs to make the first attempts to leave the idealized fantasy of his football and try to change things. Often, managers discover appreciation for different things in time, they understand that defending properly has its own merits, and is very important part of football.

I myself as a fan was like this 15 years ago, used to sniff at teams defending and being pragmatic, but in years and years of watching football, you understand the work and the merits behind that part of the game also.

For several matches in a row, we have conceded similar goals. This is, of course, on the coach, and reflects more tactical stubbornness than a lack of player quality.

with xavi there were usually obvious brain facts from players that costed us goals. now, most goals are carbon copies. no obvious player at fault.

With the trade offs he's making our attack should be a lot sharper and more fluid which we clearly are not with personnel changing so often. Not entirely his fault but it's what we've been dealt. This is compounded by a clear increase in unforced errors and turnovers by individuals all over. Transitions should be way quicker and more precise for this kind of play to work out (See Raphinha).

it looks to me the players are also frustrated with the way he wanst to play. running them to the ground pressing, only to get smacked (as expexted) by a good one touch diaginal pass or a second run after the tra... same story like last season only gotten worse. this pass is inevitable and non definablele except if you press with 11 players at full speed all game.
Exactly. This whole system is a joke. I said it right from the beginning. You need balance between the lines. Flick doesnt know how to implement this. Fact. What is even worse, everybody sees we dont have the players for insane pressing and slow centerbacks yet he keeps doing the same shit all day long letting even bad opponents score goals for fun. Man has no clue how to set up a team by adapting tactics to the players he has.

There is no benefit for why you'd have your defensive players pressing the other team's defenders. Not when your attackers are closer and would need to run far less to press those players.

I have never seen this being done as often by any of our previous managers. The more defensive oriented players get involved in pressing only after first wave is triggered and does its job. As the opposing defenders are pressed by your attackers, the midfielders of the team being pressed try to show up for pass, and then yes, Frenkie and Pedri go with them in pressing. But Pedri, Frenkie, Balde constantly go chasing defenders while leaving huge spaces in midfield.

It's completely retarded and illogic. This is not even man for man press. The willingness of a player to press, his energy, this is largely irrelevant. Position impacts who is in the position to press X or Y opponent. If the player in best position to press doesn't do it and other more willing teammate has to compensate, you're already toast. This will happen again and again, and it's just a matter of finding brave enough teams to try and take advantage of such chaotic approach.
