I just posted in Raphinha thread the net spend table since 2021. We are 128th club in Europe in terms of actual investments in the squad, in terms of transfer fees paid to build the squad we have now.

Rubbish. Busi being there in summer of 2022 meant the funds had to be invested in fixing more immediate needs. And the result was we won the league that season after 3 years of no title.

Xavi knew what had to be done in terms of squad building, he just didn't get the funds, grew frustrated looking at the rivals he had to face and the funds they had compared to us, and that was it.

Flick knows too. Same situation, more or less.

Explain why he never chased one as cover for Busi to develop for when he leaves soon enough or in 2023 when Busi left?

Most likely he actually believed likes of Kessie, Gundo, Romeu could do a job there is the reality.
