I can only hope that next time we play PSG, if we do, we are gonna let their CBs on the ball far more, and close the easy access passes to Hakimi and Mendes by using our wingers with more brains. Not to do brainless pressing, but to cut the main progression routes of PSG. Which are or should be known by now. Similarly to how Barcola played when he activated on our right flank. I far more prefer to let Pacho stay on the ball until he reaches traffic, vs naively handing out huge spaces to elite runners with the ball like Nuno Mendes and Hakimi as if Christmas came early for them.

I have no idea how we reached the conclusion that it's a good idea to let those channels so open. Because if we play like that and ahead of Hakimi and Mendes are likes of Dembele, we can receive 5-6 goals easily. Let's not get fooled into thinking Pacho passes like Araujo .

Several of the tactical mistakes were bade by Pedri, Yamal, De Jong also, the most lauded players here.

It's a systemic issue imo. Hell, causes can be multiple, maybe they put too much weight on their shoulders in this game vs PSG and it blew in their faces once they saw the reality of the match, and just how next level players like Vitinha, Hakimi, and Mendes were compared to us at reading the game. Not a nice feeling to have, I'm sure.

One thing's for certain, we need to regroup, stop with the self-gratifying bullshit, and go back to work. PSG demolished the same Inter we shipped 7 from. They are far above us atm and we need to cut the distance and improve. I know it's hard without a stadium, shitty home atmosphere, key injuries, and a thin squad, but that's what we have to do.

Glad the forum is coming around to the fact that PSG are better than us, by whatever metric each individual person what's to use.

I hope the club and players have done the same thing, the first step to make it over the line in the CL is acceptance.

They are the one team in Europe right now that I would say in genuinely better than us, it took them a while to get there, but that's where we are right now, need players and coach staff to step up if we are to meet them again.

Or

Maybe someone else catches them on a off day are has better tactics and we won't have to worry about them again.

Acceptance allows you to realize that you can't play vs Mendes as if you play vs some normal fullbacks. His quality on the ball is way superior than what is typical for the position.

You might as well consider him a winger. Like Dani Alves and Marcelo. In fact, he played LW in the 2nd half when Hernandez came on. Hakimi not so different, these are fullbacks with forward and playmaker qualities on the ball.

Assume he is a big threat whenever he has space. It's a good lesson for us, sometimes you have to feel an opponent on your own, by playing against it.

PSG drew versus Lille at the weekend. They tried rotating the squad and it didn't work out.

Brought on the likes of Vintinha and Ruiz but didn't help.

Mbappe got the Lille goal to ad a nice little caveat.

Suggests two things
1) yes they have the luxury to rotate in Ligue1 but at this stage of the campaign it doesn't help. And side note, Lille played Europa League Thursday.

2) Our game also took a physical chunk out of them too.

Laporta and co need to back him in the upcoming transfer windows with signing or risk seeing this team fizzle out.

Team has a great core but it’s clear there are areas that need desperate reinforcements.

Should be building the team based off of the successes of last season and not let it regress like it looks to have this season.

Should be looking at players like Olmo and Araujo as potential sales and getting Lewa’s massive wages off the books.

Yeah, totally. Lille also had a tough one at Roma away, not some piss easy home game vs some EL cannon fodder.

Yestreday game saddens not because we lost, that happens, but because we didn't, and obviously won't, learn anything. We will try and die by our style which some may think is smart but i think truly smart decision is not to be stubborn as a mule.
Our typical game, if we don't dominate, it's not we are loosing it it's save us for not getting 5 or more in our net. We refuse to suffer sometimes, grind, play deeper, weather the storm and try to win ugly from time to time. No, if our players are tired, sick, missing, whatever we will play the same game.

I agree. Time for a cleaning. Some players who don't work with the team needs to go.

It has nothing to do with Inigo mr genius

Hansi said in his last presser that the high line can't work if there is NO pressure on the ball.
Show it against PSG, show it tonight as well

Our players are not trying
I wrote this at the start of the season but we are not in struggle mode anymore, that is, the players are starting to see themselves as superstars again. When you have your back against the wall its easier to work. It is harder to keep going once you achieved your fame, a big contract etc.

As such it is down to Flick also to start reminding them that your spot is not guaranteed if you don't run. The club is too permissive with some discipline issues from players, like coming late or silly fights over girlfriends.

We outran PSG by 3km though last Wednesday, 117.5 vs 114.6, not running enough is not the big problem. Lack of effort is not why we lost.

It's not even specifically about running, its about discipline in general, like passing to teammates when they have an open goal, holding your position, sharing the ball etc.

There are a lot of signs of greed from our attack specifically.

True that, we need a firmer hand a bit. Seen quite a few selfish actions from Yamal and Raphinha both. We started the season with head in the clouds a bit, talks about BD, shit like that.
