Florian Wirtz

The only reason he is playing is because he cost a lot of money. If an academy player were putting in these performances they would be benched and that would be the end of it, the team would not be adjusted to try and fit them in, and so it should be with Wirtz. Slot should set them up in the optimal way and only bring in Wirtz when they have injuries or people need a rest. If he shows he improves the team at some point then so be it, but shoehorning him into the team is not good for anyone, including him.

The whole team's backbone has changed. Fringpong Kerkez, while a Wirtz is still figuring it out.
Give it time, its still early days.

A team doesn't need to be firing in all cylinders in September to win trophies.

Were those academy players officially the best player in a top 5 league for 2 years in a row?

Liverpool are trying too much to be like Big Dick Barca. Trying to turn into a high line full on attacking machine that has the mantra " We will score one more than you. ".

And they are failing massively. They need to go back to last season's pragmatism and do it quick. Although, having spent so heavily on attacking players, that would be an admission that they have failed miserably in the transfer market.

What a conundrum to have! But that's what you get when you try to copy Big D Barca and Don Bumsiball.

Leave it to the experts. :flick:

Flick can't even get the best out of Fermin and Olmo on a consistent basis when we think about it. The #10 position in a 4-2-3-1 is an unforgiving position unless you're a different class, like prime Müller, Lampard, etc., and those guys just focused on timing the run to score.

But still, confirmed: Fermin > Wirtz. He should have waited and come to his dream club, but he saw how stacked we were and knew he wouldn't get a chance.
