8 - Pedri

It was luck but also top tier instinct/coordination+technique to improvise and keep the ball. Bellingham tries that and the ball is out for a throw-in.

Dont think he even did that as no time to react and make it happen.

It hits his foot when trying hurdle challenge.

He has absolutely no time to react to the defender playing off his shin.

He did not mean that but him keeping the ball is not only luck but instinct/flow state/genius, whatever you wanna call it. It's not about envisioning a move and executing it, on the pitch when you have no time to react like this one, an athlete in the flow state just does spontaneous things.

I'm not willing to die on this hill, but there is a reason Pedri pulls that off and no one else

Dont agree at all.

He tried to nick it and got lucky with way bounced after defender nicked it. He didnt react after that touch.

Plenty of things to praise Pedri for that wasnt one of them really.

I agree. He is only missing a (consistently) good final ball to be at the level of Iniesta and the other midfield Gods. Cus lately I've seen him pull off some tasty passes, but he doesn't pull them off let alone attempt them regularly. Besides that, composure, ball retention, controlling tempo, dictating play, even dribbling to an extent (though not quite like Andres, not sure he'll ever match him there tbh) is world class level.

dribbling horizontally or towards own goal fucking a

How about this piece of skill? Completely intentional.

Yeah, he clearly didn't expect the bounce.
Pedris moment was also lucky, but i'd give him more credit, because his compact dribbling style makes shit like this happen more often. He has great anticipation in moment to moment situations and sees future better than other players and makes his moves accordingly, doesn't flail or stumble ever.
