10 - Lamine Yamal

Then why are you here arguing about money without knowing how La Liga operates? I'm not saying Barca would reject a hypothetical billion, I'm saying Barca should even if an offer like that comes at some point. From a sporting perspective, you can't improve a team if you sell a talent of Yamal's calibre even with all that money because of how much better he is than others (the X factor or whatever you wanna call it).
There's other ways that billion could come in useful.

The way a league or company operates isn't a valid reason for turning down a billion euros for a player. Come on mate.

Yamal is not that calibre of player. Yes he adds a lot to the team, but if it was possible, that billion could be used to totally revamp the team and end up better off than just having Yamal and relying on him. Like I said, I don't know much about what Tebas gets up to, as unlike you lot I am not a Barca fan. But you're implying here that a billion euros would be pointless for a club like Barca...

It's easy to be pessimistic and wish failure. The rest of us just want to see how far Yamal can go.
I don't wish failure, I wanna see him do well. But I am being a realist and I know the traps.

On the other hand, from interacting with you over the last year, you are the eternal optimist/delusionist/excuse maker. The Barca version of a Man U top red.

I will say it again - a billion Euros is almost five times the current transfer record for Neymar (himself a bigger talent than Yamal), which by itself is significantly bigger than the second biggest fee ever.

Yet you would turn this down. For a guy who isn't even a Messi or Maradona level talent.

Do you even have any concept of the value of money?

You are not being a realist, you are being a skeptic, which is fine, but get off your high horse and stop thinking that you are the embodiment of a rational thinker. You are probably old and stuck in the past and nostalgia, and that is okay.

I never said I am the 'embodiment of a rational thinker'. I am in this debate though, as you're the lunatic who wants to reject five times the world record transfer fee for an unproven child.

Nostalgia is all you can say to anyone who disagrees with you. Not the first time you have resorted to that.

On the other hand, you are a recency bias type, who thinks everything of the present is the best.

If I was nostalgic I would be arguing Maradona was better than Messi and Zidane better than Xavi. But I don't. Keep up the bad claims, though.

He's a great talent, but even he is overrated on here, like the majority of Barca players, as @malvolio says.

He can maybe be a top 20 player of all time, but the clowns on here think he's the next Messi, Maradona, Cruyff. Same fannies who consider Raphinha a legend of the game after one good season playing well above his true level.

Tbh lamine is still quite one-dimensional and has a lot to work on. He also has a stinking attitude off the pitch.

And that is coming from someone who does rate him highly and thinks he will be a top 1 or 2 player in the world in his prime.

Revisit this thread in 10 years. You might look just as stupid as those who said Messi wouldn't amount to much. Are you a rabid Messi fan? No one here said he would be equal to him, only that he has achieved more at the same age - which is true.

I use the "nostalgia" card only against miserable old posters, which is mostly malvolio, but also you and Barcaman a little bit.

Also, of course, you wouldn't sell Messi for a billion. That is Messi ffs  Barca's yearly revenue is around 1 billion already, and it is set to increase with Camp Nou.

Alternatively, he could fail to deliver and live up to his promise. you could look like a clown too. I never said he won't be the best player in the world. But there's a difference between that and being a billion pound player. The way you guys build him up he has to be Maradona, Pele and Messi all rolled into one to live up to the hype.

He's a great talent but he isn't Messi, R9, Neymar level talent.

No I am not a 'rabid Messi fan'. Some days I consider Diego better. But acknowledging that Messi is three or four levels above Yamal is just common sense, not being a rabid messi fan.
No footballer is worth a billion euros. Not even an alien like Messi.

If he'll end up as a top 20 player of all time if anything he's underrated now by fans then
Some people on here act like this immature child who just stopped using his potty is the second coming of Jesus. It is truly fucking cringe to put a child on a pedestal like that. Especially by older men who could be his dad and who should know better.

You can tell how good Yamal is when the argument turns to 'he wont be as good as Messi'.

Says it all and how desperate some are to be negative about him and is proven correct when he is not the next Messi.

'only that he has achieved more at the same age - which is true.'

Who cares? It's obvious to anyone with half a brain he's miles off Messi's talent. That was true and very obvious even when Messi was 18 and had 'achieved less'.

Have some fucking foresight for fuck sake.

It's ad hominem and ageism to attack Yamal for being young and immature instead of focusing on him as a football player, which we are talking about.

Look at his stats, it is strictly documental. If he continues on the same developmental path, sky is the limit, and we are simply enthusiastic about Barca's future with him in the team. I can see from your posts that you are very emotional about this. Attacking posters, using strong language - you simply WANT Yamal to not be as good as he might become, which is shameful and not the attitude an older person should have towards a youngin
