Most fans at least judge absolutely everything by it.

It's always about how many CLs a team wins. It's given far more prestige than winning any league in Europe, with the exception of the PL. And that's only because there's so many EPL fanboys.

It always was the biggest, but it's not all the season, the league title in EPL and La Liga is big.

I know they are. But my point is that most fans (admittedly clueless, internet fans) see the CL as the biggest thing in club football by far.

In their eyes it's good to win La Liga if you're Barca or Real, but much much better to not win it and win the CL instead. I don't necessarily agree.

Only Madrid have this kind of obsession about CL, understandably because they are so good in that competition historically. For me, it is not particularly essential, unless you can get it and fail. The nastiest CL memories are failed semis, 2010, 2012, 2019, and 2025. Semis hurt the most. The rest I don't care much about. Most clubs treat it like that. There is no special CL preparation involved.

No that's not true. It isn't just Real Madrid fans.

Maybe I have spent too much time laughing at clueless modern internet fans, but they all seem obsessed with the CL no matter who they support.

I don't think there is a CL obsession in general.

It becomes a key thing the moment you hit the level to be able to get it. Madrid do have the right combinations of skills and mentality to do better than the rest in this competition.

The CL is an obsession for the biggest clubs.

Was/is for City before won one. Same for PSG. Same for Chelsea. Same for Bayern. For Barca to fully be back in big time they will need one and it would be one would chose this season.

Doesnt mean every season dont win is a failure though.

For us, the team under Flick is getting close to the level that gives you hopes about CL, to the point of being pissed off about a semifinal considering you had it in your hand.

Btw I am not hating on Lewa.

I acknowledge he's one of the best strikers of his generation, even the last 30 years.

But I think he gets an easy ride for some of his failures, and that fanboys like Temptation take a top player like him and go completely overboard about him. There's people out there who think he's better than R9 because he has scored more goals. That's what I mean about overpraised. That's a level far, far above his abilities. A level he has zero business being talked about on.

Would think very very few would ever have Lewa in the debate as best CF ever with likes of Van Basten and R9.

Can be a 'legend' but not on that level of all time best.
