Are we not interested in these kinds of deals, or are we unable to compete?
Sevilla is also selling their most valuable player again, Bade to Leverkusen for 30m. The summer sales in LaLiga continues. WIth him gone, Sevilla's entire marketvalue on Transfermarkt will be around €130m. That's what's left of the mighty EL Sevilla today.
Disgusting what's happening in the league
And the best part is, Sevilla is not mad at LaLiga for destroying their club, but at Barca for finding loopholes to be able to keep signing players. Rather than uniting and aiming their anger at the cause, which is Tebas and his goons, they're fighting Barca because Laporta doesn't want to give up ambitions. What's happening to Sevilla is the biggest L of them all, though a lot of it is there own fault.
But in la Liga if when make a mistake you are punished 10x, when it should be a case where the league helps you to get back on your feet again.
That's very true for smaller teams and also for Madrid it makes sense because Tebas weakens their main rivals. Why is Laporta supporting him?Clubs want it, that is the bottom line.
The presidents will go on public and speak against it, how it should be more loose etc, but they will vote for the same rules and same person behind the closed doors.
Tebas is the ultimate scapegoat for clubs, they can tell their fans they would love to invest more but they can't. He can play the devil while they pretend to be powerless.
Tebas himself is like many Spanish public figures, he loves the attention and is full of himself. He doesn't care about criticism and think of them as fools.
Even Barca and Real aren't really pushing for getting him out. They are all on the same boat, but pretending otherwise
Very high quality post. Most La Liga clubs/fans are obsessed with RM and Barca. They prefer to see their own team struggle/stagnate if that means RM/Barca won't progress either so they can (imaginatory) close the gap to top clubs.
That's the main reason fans of other clubs are/were supporting Thebes though I think most of them are now turning against him too. You can often hear Tebas vete ya chants during games in a lot of stadiums across Spain.
He is doing everything in his power to push Barca down to the level of Getafe or Sevilla (in FFP terms we are closer to them than Real or Atleti) rather than giving those clubs the best possible environment so they can push to reach Barca's level (ofc they'll never get there) while at the same time letting Barca stay competitive on elite European level.
Ofc in the end is up to the clubs. They have to be smart too and Barca made many mistakes that we are paying price right now. So did Sevilla with their internal power struggles (basically familliar afair between Del Nido and his son). Other clubs have bad owners/decision makers as well. Like Lim at Valencia.
But OTOH you also have clubs who are doing very good for 80-90% of the time like Villarreal and they can't progress under Thebes either. Betis had some up and downs but overall would say they are mostly a smartly runned club with loyal and passionate fan base who would make a big step up if they would play in the PL or even BL.
Basques clubs like Sociedad and Osasuna are well organized clubs with good youth setups as well but need to sell their best players, often against their will. Sociedad sold RLN, Merino and Zubi over last 12 months and replaced them with nobody.
Won't mention Bilbao in the same sentence as they are really more limited by their own philosophy than finances.
I understand why those clubs would sell their best players to clubs like Arsenal where they can compete for titles (who are we kidding). That's seen as step up in their careers and has always happened before. What shouldn't be happening though is a CL club like Villarreal selling their striker to mid/bottom table PL clubs like Everton. And I'm saying this while believing getting 35m for Barry was probably a good deal for the yellow submarine. That's not the point though. Villarreal is selling because they need to not because they want to. If they were in position to keep Baena and Barry and bring Moleiro (to replace Denis Suarez for example) and another good striker they would do that. But they can't. And ofc situation is much worse for other teams who don't play in CL or Europe at all.
