Inigo Martínez

Which raises another issue. If everyone did know earlier than leaked, Deco and co. are even more foolish than I thought.
Not to mention the clause was there and they had to know about it.
My theory has been, we asked him to leave, just like we asked Gundo. We really didn't have any salary space to register Garcia and Rashy.
At that time, Mats wasn't playing ball, and it was increasingly looking like we will not be able to use that 4 month injury excuse. So they did a hail marry and let Inigo depart.

And fuck Mats.

edit: As much as I agree with Inigo about him not having enough legs left to play, a leader and player like that doesn't chicken out so easily. And he can easily play less minutes and be in top form if our Backline was healthy. Dont think any professional players would think the other way.

So Laporta confirmed Inigo left because the club asked him to, not that it was his wish.

A stand up guy, like Gundo and Pjanić. The club asked to leave, he didn't want to be somewhere he isn't wanted, made the club a favor, left with his head held high... Many could learn from him.

I got a different impression from what he said.

Inigo leaving helps, but that they wouldn't have forced him to leave. It was his own decision as he got a once in a lifetime salary offer.

20m euros per year is what I read and I don't think they even have to pay taxes on it in Saudi.
20mil? What? That's nuts

Nobody could force him to leave but they probably asked him because the club needs it, he got a great financial offer and he accepted like any normal person would. Who wants to work where they are not wanted? We are just too used to leaches in this club so we are all surprised when someone acts like a normal stand up human being.

And I would add that the Al Nassr wasn't some lucky coincidence that it came just at the moment we needed it for FFP. Google who is the next president of Al Nassr and everything will be crystal clear.

I fully agree with the last bit, if a couple of players were like that for us, over the last few years, we would be out of FFP.

But a few too many want to hang out.

Club says hey we don't want you anymore for whatever reason, go on loan, take the sale do something, as long as you're getting a similar or more in salary

Too much is being made out of this move for me. Makes perfect sense. He probably saw this possible move when he signed in the first place, and took it. Smart guy. Gonna pocked the biggest pay of his career at 35.

Last season at the start, he looked impressive, at the end, he showed his age. This season would have been worse in that regard.

Too bad we didn't get 5-10m. Inigo sould be very thankful to Barcelona.
