I mean if there was ever a place for a no defense playing CB it is Barca. Just make 60m sprints back and hope for some luck on the counter.

He was pretty bad when he broke through 2000/2001. I recall the British commentators making a mockery out of him over his performances versus Liverpool in the UEFA Cup back then.

Turned out a pretty decent player in the end.

He's only really a meme because we've got a spoilt fanbase.

I think a left back from the youth system who got an assist every 6 games, playing in a EPL team would be looked upon as a ' interesting prospect ' from their fanbase. Look at Ayden Heaven from Utd for example, who has shown far less than Martin.

Was he really that bad defensively or has La Masia just spoilt us recently with Balde, Pau, Fermin, Casado, Lamine etc.

I'd suggest the latter.
