No 9 on the market is worth it for us at the prices being asked. Our issues with most positions are squad depth, not starting positions. If all are fit, then the only signing that we need in the first 11 is a CB. I continue to believe that. Especially after recent signs that Stegen is out of it.
Let's see Ferran Torres this year. People treat him lightly but he showed great things last season imo. And he's only 25.
I agree with a lot of what you're saying regarding the defense. LB was a glaring problem, almost too obvious. People are overating Cubarsi too. Great talent, but proved as the season went on that he was too inexperienced to be an undisputed starter for us. Which is fine, he's very young. Garcia didn't suddenly stop being dogshit as CB. Inigo is solid, but aging, exactly what we knew when we signed him. I love Christensen, but you cant rely on a guy that finds a way to be injured 50% of every season, despite being our best CB. Araujo is the definition of unreliable. I'd swap him for any half decent CB in La Liga and call it a W.
Where I disagree is with Torres. Not sure how people can forget 2.5 seasons of unforgivable awfulness after only 3-4 months of average overall play and a few big goals. He is where I would have looked to make money but I'm pretty sure he's looking to run down his contract before ever agreeing to leave. Scrapping him to assure Nico/winger and bringing Rashford to fill his role on loan would of been glorious. All while using the other funds we have for CB/LB. Frimpong for 35mil then Kounde back to CB would of been great and have solved a lot of problems.
Some people will blame Flick though, even though some of the mentioned players were liabilities under Xavi too. When the only thing Flick is guilty of is taking our team way beyond all our expectations last season.
