The word overrated gets thrown around a lot. I do it with Lewy and Ronaldo, who were clearly world-class players but I am being a bit more pedantic because I am rating them based on how they are ranked next to other GOATs.

I do it with guys like Fernandes, but he is clearly a high quality player.

I said Vidic was overrated, but that's more because people rated him above Ferdinand and Van Dijk who I think are better. He was still good and performed well.

Being rated as better than peers who you aren't is technically 'overrating', but it's a bit pedantic. All of the above were world-class or approached it at some point (approached in Fernandes's case).

But this Pogba guy is THE definition of overrated, as draconifire says. You have people saying he was amazing for France based on one tournament (where he arguably wasn't in their top five performers). He's rated first time at Juventus, where he did well, but essentially was a luxury player able to do what he liked thanks to Pirlo, Marchisio and Vidal.

He was terrible for most of his time at Man United, and has been a non-entity back at Juve, as anyone smart knew he would be.

We keep hearing from some people that this guy has 'GOAT level talent' and hear comparisons to Zidane (LOL), but does he? To me the people who think that spend too much time watching freestylers. Sure he can play a lovely pass when you give him acres of space (though he fucks plenty up too). Sure, now and then he takes a lovely touch (though, again, it is erratic). But I have NEVER seen a player fucking lose the ball as much on the halfway line as this clown did at Man United most games. He's also absolutely woeful in tight spaces, doesn't work hard, has zero clue how to run a game, his shooting is erratic.

I don't buy for a second that this guy is anything other than a hugely overrated flash merchant who can pick a nice pass if you give him time on the ball, and who impresses the weak-minded with little pointless pirouettes in the middle of the park. Other than that he's mostly useless, as the majority of his career showcases.

He's miles more famous and hyped up than David Silva, who was three times the player, and easily more talented and with an infinitely higher football IQ.

Then anyone who criticises him is accused of being racist. That's how bad his cultists are - hiding behind his skin colour and actually cheapening the fight against genuine racism.

He's definitely a top 3 most overrated player I have seen since the 80s. A total myth of a footballer.

That guy in that Twitter post is a clown. Posts a 1 minute video of Pogba trying to prove something. Pogba was average at best for Man United and all of Caicedo, Fernandez, Rice and Gravenberch have already surpassed what he did at United.

He was always horrendous in tight spaces too, which is a killer for a midfielder. He lost the ball on the halfway line more often than most players I have ever seen.

Goes to show how overrated this clown still is as desperate United fans try to rewrite history. He's a freestyle footballer and for me he only impresses those with a shallow view of the game.

yeah but tbf when you have Pirlo who is one of the best midfield players of all time then its very very difficult to be the main man
Yeah but when he was tasked with controlling the midfield at Man United he couldn't do it.

He was always a supplementary player - a luxury player who only really excelled in one position (left of a 3 in midfield in a 4-3-3). He had his moments for France and Juve, and had some talent for sure. But I don't buy this 'so talented, he could have been as good as Zidane'. That is hypejob nonsense. He had too many flaws in his game for that. His best ability was playing a pass, but he needed space to do it. He could carry the ball, but again needed space.

It isn't really a surprise to me that he was underwhelming at Man United, as I never thought he was as good as the hype suggested anyway.

He needed someone like Kante or at Juve Vidal who doing the hardwoking defence shit, at Manu he didnt have such a player so he couldnt focus on his abilities. Another problem was discipline, if i remember correctly he had some scandals and wasnt as professionell as a football player should be. He is a bit like Bruno, on his day he was worldclass but not enough consistency. Anyways, dont say he is a tier 1 midfield player but he wasted his talent at Manu, could have easily won at least 1 cl in a good club.

Fair enough, some good points there.

@Temptation @Maradona37

One of the best PL matches in recent years, i watched this match live, City was missing chances like crazy and then Manu did Manu things!

Aye watched that game live. City should have been five up at half-time, then United played in moments and produced one of their fluky comebacks reminiscent of Real Madrid.

What makes it worse for City is that a win would have mathematically sealed the title for them that night.

yea, alone Sterling could have scored a hattrick
