Because Perez has no opposition and a life long Carte Blanche to do whatever he wants.

It is a bit like Dicators/kings planning for long run (China) vs someone who has to deliver before the midterms.

Laporta had to scrap for some wins in order to continue and implement some long term decisions (the stadium). Bartomeu was all about now too. Because otherwise you will have Catalan media putting a knife on your neck and asking for a vote of no confidence.

Of course. I am aware of different circumstances but there needs to be some kind of consensus. It is a fan owned club after all.
Presidents treat the club as their personal playground when making staff decisions. Employing friends, family, former players (puppets) and yes people.

Also, needs to be said during Laporta's both tenures there has been massive changes so that's under one president.
Then uncertainties with Messi, Koeman, Xavi no, yes, no.

Laporta has not been a stabile figure.

Not easy to get these guys for free though. Need to be pulling all kinds of shenanigans behind the scenes to get guys like Trent, Alaba, Mbappe and Donna to wait out their contracts.

What shenanigans? Lewa is always going to be 38. You look few years before, identify the profile and contacts the players.
Let's be real, we have been amateurs.

I agree with Barcaman here.
Even though they do shenanigans. Its smart business, they identify who they want years ahead.
We will never have a singular vision, always going around and shopping, and being erratic with our Sporting project.
Which Vardrid are not.

Well, there is a difference between identifying targets to replace Lewy in say 25/26 and working on those transfers, to tapping up players a year or two in advance like TAA and potentially Donnarumma so they let their contract run out and you get them for free.

Because they look long term. Did their stadium and signed little in that period.

Many things to hate about them but there is something to learn from Perez too.
Barca needs to be a bit more ruthless in terms of putting Barca first instead pampering to some players and look at the future beyond few years. Changing SD or whatever every few years is pathetic.

They knew Busquets was going to be finished and who did they pick? Romeu

This board is far from perfect but maybe we should count ourselves lucky the stadium project didn’t fully begin under the previous board.

God knows what would have happened

RAC1 and Gerard Romero both reporting they're just finalizing the small details of the contract and it is done. Also that he won't be loaned out.

I think we probably pay the clause tomorrow or on Wednesday and announce it then.

Astute move.

25m is fair money but it isn't peanuts.

Let's hope Joan is the one, or 1, or whatever you want to call it.
