We really must be broke if we're getting Rashford (hopefully a loan) while not buying a winger, striker, midfielder or fullback. Joan Garcia and Rashford on loan likely our only signings.

Striker next year then, hopefully.

As Raphinha's backup not too bad.

He might rediscover his form in Barcelona.

It was never about having high profile players after all. It's all about Flick's system

Getting Rashford on loan(no transfer fee) means that we may still have some money for one more signing.

Players who have the desire to win and improve dont just acquire it out of thin air. It's a part of them. Their workrate is part of who they are. Lazy, disinterested players like Rashford and Leao dont suddenly change who they are because Flick gives them a pep talk. Flick can augment, supplement a desire that is already there, he can't create it.

I expect either will hustle a bit at first, then slowly stop pressing and working as hard because it's just not who they are. I could be wrong, but I would choose not to bet on them.
Raphinha didn’t really do much when he first joined us same with Ferran. At the start, they were pretty underwhelming. But now? They’re performing at a top level, our level.

I have no issues with Leao or Rashford.. so let other clubs get them and make them stronger makes lots of sense while we continue with Lamine and a Rightwinger Raphinha playing left waiting for a 4month or season ending injury must be fun to a few of you 🤣

We can hope so, but from what Deco has said I dont see it happening. As much as we'd like to bring in a striker to replace Lewa, there hasn't been anything mentioned regarding a striker at all. I think they know Lewa doesn't want to leave and we are stuck with him. We can't manage a new strikers fee and salary while still paying Lewa, unfortunately. A versatile fullback was the obvious choice for a reinforcement, but Deco already surprisingly ruled that out.

That leaves only LW as being a bigger, star signing. Rashford coming on loan kind of sets the stage. Who knows, maybe we'll be surprised.

I never said not to sign anyone.

And to say Ferran is a changed man after several months of decent form following 2.5 seasons of being laughably bad is a bit of copium. Also, Raphinha and Ferran are high commitment, high workrate players which is exactly what I said Flick thrives with. You just proved my point really.

Bring in hungry players like them that Flick can augment, improve. Not charity cases who are lazy fucks and we'll have to pray all season that Flick can somehow train them out of seasons worth of bad behavior.

He won't be a backup.

I bet something already now before he signs:
by the time the important games of the season start, Lewa will find himself benched and reduced to late super-sub role.

Lamine-Olmo-Rapha-Rashy will be our front-line. Much more fluid with position interchanges, and Rashford being able to hold up play and release Rapha and Lamine in space, also to score himself from the left half-space

We don't really need a striker right now. Lewa just finished the season scoring 42 goals for us, he can pretty much score at least 30 next season plus Ferran is doing a decent job there and Rashford(if he comes) can play there too. I agree with you that we need a versatile fullback and i still believe the board will make a third signing, if i remember correctly we were linked with Vanderson and he fits that profile you mentioned.

Liking yamal's picture, he's making it too obvious he wants to join the greatest club in the world

Well...Most of the players who play in relegation zone with their club would probably prefer playing for Champions. The only difference is that others don't have the United golden boy PR machine behind them.

Rashford's issue has always been inconsistency. He will look like a potential world beater for a few months and then far from it. There's no middle ground. What he is though is an extremely dangerous player on his day. Had Aston Villa not subbed him off in the return game with 25 minutes left they could have quite possibly knocked PSG out of the CL. He was killing them.
