14 - Marcus Rashford

Rashford's issue has always been inconsistency. He will look like a potential world beater for a few months and then far from it. There's no middle ground. What he is though is an extremely dangerous player on his day. Had Aston Villa not subbed him off in the return game with 25 minutes left they could have quite possibly knocked PSG out of the CL. He was killing them.

Just his pressing and running can help us out though. Doesn’t need to be as clinical as lewandowski

Just keep passing ball to lamine

A different environment and playing under Flick might work wonders for this guy. If we could get him on loan it would be nice. Also gives us time to hopefully scout and sign the next big thing at the LW position.

This is my assessment as well. But a loan deal is pre-requisite for me. buying already makes it much less appealing.

loandeal I feel will also have positive effect psychologically on rashy.

Barcola on the left wing with Yamal on the right would be nasty! Imagine the final balls Yamal can play with Barcola's pace.

This situation with Rashford kinda reminds me of the Aubameyang case. In the end, it turned out to be a successful signing.

I have watched him extensively for almost a decade - don't be fooled by YouTube videos that can make anyone seem brilliant, his general play is poor and he can only play in counter-attack systems. Most of the time Barca have to break down defences. There are counter attacking moments too, of course there are, but in the bread and butter games smaller sides hunker down and try to defend.

He's never shown he can thrive against low blocks - even the guys saying he looks dangerous on his (rare) day...most of his goals and good moments come from running in behind and going one on one with the goalkeeper. He isn't great in tight spaces at all.

This is all theory though and he could do well at Barca I guess. But I don't think it would be a smart move given the circus around him, and that he'd only be rotational anyway as Raphina would be first choice (and Rashford would likely moan about that).

Maybe on loan with United paying most of his wages, but they want him out permanently.

I don't think United will go for that. He's already had one loan and they want him out for good apparently.
They don't have much choice. No club is going to take on his huge wages AND pay a transfer fee and if a club did buy him for, say, £20mil, United would have to pay off his current contract to get him to leave and make up for the downsize in wages at his new club.

I think we'll go for Diaz now with Rashford as an option towards end of window.

True, they wanna sell him but are stuck with him after giving him that mammoth contract. But continuing loaning him out is like putting a band aid on a gaping wound. Maybe they'd be better just keeping him and trying to get something out of him again and trying to offset his 'toxic' attitude..

Ah well, fuck them. You love to see it.

As Givenchy said.
What I am hoping is we are just window shopping for a better deal. Going for Rashford towards the end of the window will force ManU into a loan deal in favourable terms.
I honestly don't see a see downside. They already have to pay his wages, and are not going to recoup any money if they want to sell him. With a loan deal, they will at least be saving some of their wage bill because of us.
As for us, we already have top-class LW/RW/ST in our team. What we need is a backup to rotate and getting subbed in at 70min. I honestly think a free player with some redeeming attributes and potential, like Rashford, is what we need.
Spending any money on this position is vanity/asinine. What we need is a cheap to reasonably priced backup. Someone with potential. Not a starter who will sit on the bench for 60% of the games.
Rashford fits every aspect of it. But I want us to wait till the end of the season, to look at other options.
