A lot of their fans don't think Mainoo is a CM either. A lot of them think he's an AM as he lacks the stamina, engine, passing range and ability to control the game to be a CM.

Personally I find him a weird, positionless player. He doesn't seem to excel at much other than a few fancy dribbles in tight spaces.

I personally think he's another hyped up academy product of theirs, and will likely be another Januzaj, but I am not arrogant enough to not admit I could be wrong on that.

As for Amorim, I think he's better than he has showed. He does have some awful fucking players there, let's be honest.

But he deserves criticism too - my issues with him is that he's too dogmatic and wedded to this three at the back he's insistent on never or rarely deviating from. His idea of plan B being chucking crosses in while throwing Maguire up front, because it worked before. Also something I don't like is he sometimes says they controlled the game when they did anything but.

I do think he has potential but it has been an utter. utter disaster for him so far. I don't think he will ever get them close to challenging and will be sacked within the next 18 months most likely, probably before then. But that is more on United being a graveyard for coaches than a full reflection of him as a manager. I wouldn't be surprised if he went somewhere else and did better.

No comparison. In fact, Flick/Barca with United's budget would absolutely mangle Europe.
