Unfortunately, that is the level of ?top? teams in Europe at the moment. The best players in the world are a roided up Inzaghi and a player who is like 30% as effective against a low block/ without space to run into

While we don't have a prime Messi anymore, imo, a part of posts like these is a huge fan-bias.

Yeah, Barca ALONE was great around 2010'.
But honestly, the rest of the world was equally as meh as today.

Today, number of quality CL teams:
EPL: Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham
Bundesliga: Bayern
La Liga: Real, Barca, AM
France: Psg
Italy: maybe Napoli

Let's check 2008-2012 era:
Real = check
Barca = check
Atletico = not there
Man City = who?
Man Utd = check
Arsenal = eternal chockers
Chelsea = check
Liverpool = no
Qatari Psg = who?
Anyone from Seria A = Seria A bankrupted and barely existed outside of Inter
Bayern = at their lowest point in the 21st century, especially in 2009, 2010.

So, basically, around 2010, CL was without teams like current Bayern, City, Liverpool, AM, Juve + Milan (ok, Juve and Milan are dead even today).

So, I would agree that the ceiling today is not as high as a ceiling of prime Barca.
But the rest of the opponents are more or less the same as back then, or honestly better today.

Quarter finals of 2010:
Lyon-Bordeaux
Inter-Cska Moscow (Russia)

Quarter finals of 2011:
Barca-Shakhtar (Ukraine)
Inter-Schalke

Quarter finals 2012:
Real-Apoel (Cyprus, lol)
Bayern-Marseille
Chelsea-Benfica

Honorable mentions, round of 16 in 2012: Lyon-Apoel, Benfica-Zenit St Petersburg, Bayern-Basel, Real-Cska Moscow

Chelsea and United from peak SAF days and Mourinho's team (it was still the team he created in the years after he left) were far better than the likes of City and PSG today.

Of course the amount of elite teams is roughly gonna be the same, 4-5 at best, but the top teams of that era would beat the current ones without a doubt.

Mainly the difference is made in defense. Inter, Chelsea of those days were far better defensive teams than the lot of top teams today, most of them can't defend basically.

This is why most likely an inferior version of Madrid compared with previous decade is gonna beat them again. If you can't defend properly, Vinicius and Benzema, with Modric and Kroos backing them, are still too much firepower in CL.

These teams can't even get their keepers to stop gifting them goals ffs. The amount of goals Madrid scored in the last 2 seasons from pure keeper blunders and gifts is amazing. Wonder what Kepa will prepare for us in a few weeks.

:lol::lol: BBZ trying to tell me RM team of:

Ballon D'Or winner/prime CR7, Benzema, Ramos, Marcelo, Casillas, Xabi Alonso, Di Maria etc. was comparable to the PSG and City and Pool and Bayern of today :lol:

Or United with CR7, Rooney, Tevez, Ferdinand, Vidic, Van Der Saar, Evra, Scholes

Or Mourinho's Inter

Or Juventus 2015 with Tevez, Pirlo, Marchisio, Pogba, Vidal, Buffon, Chiellini, Barzagli etc.

Or Bayern 2015 with Lewa, Muller, Neuer, Lahm, Bastian, Thiago, Boateng, Alaba etc.

The quality of managers for those teams was SAF, Mourinho, Pep, and Allegri. Allegri is the weakest of that bunch and still got to 2 CL finals v all time great Barca and RM sides in those days.

Relax on the haterade. Just the quality of players/number of all great players is so different between then and now. Football works in cycles and we're at the low point in talent right now. We'll be back up soon, most likely.

I have far more faith in Bayern knocking out Madrid than City. Pep in big CL games is a habitual overthinker and he'll do something stupid like playing Haaland at Right Mid

KL went from boy to man the years between 08 and 12, so everything that happened back then is blown out of proportion in his mind

Look at Bayern for how a top club is run. Ruthless, efficient. They knew a better manager was out there. They didnt feel Naglesmann was the right fit. So BOOOM! Sack him asap and bring in Tuchel. Meanwhile in Barcaland Xavi gets to fiddle and fuck around while we exit the EL twice in a row. Bayern didnt even concede a goal in 6 matches against Inter, PSG and us. They have standards. We dont. Simple.

Bayern's decision to sack him isn't really that ruthless, it's just the timing is a bit odd so close to the end of the season. Some could argue he was lucky to get a second season after their exit to Villarreal and losing the cup game 5-0 to Monchengladbach. Plus they had their lowest points total in 10 years last season and were guaranteed to finish with even less this year.

He was too young to get a job there in the first place. Barca were just as ruthless with Valverde, we were top of the league when firing him.

:lol: By this token, you went from boy to man in the years between 18-23, considering you've been dancing like a circus act for:

1) "Muh Analytics"
2) xG
3) The mighty EPL
4) Pool and Bayern
