This 'controlling the game' stuff is getting a bit ridiculous, we did against Rayo, Granada and Cadiz too but couldn't win any of them. We just have a ton of possession and do nothing with it because our opponents can sit back and watch us.

Comparing it to Barca squad minus Araujo, FDJ, Pedri. Dembele, Fati and Aguero.

Could almost not hand pick 5 worse players to miss from this squad.

Also the sale of Griezmann despite what some claim is a massive step up from some of the players that have been playing.

Then have the same reliance on the old shite that folk optimistically think will change each season and never does.

You are right on Griezmann. I was very critical (mostly regarding financial issues) but it's undeniable even a Griezmann in terrible form contributes way more than the shit we are putting there. When you drop in quality like that across the pitch you will see it in results.

They think Busquets and the CBs passing ball in space is controlling game even when they refuse counter attacking chances to do it.

Pass slowly through midfield going nowhere through Busi allowing defence to get set then see it as controlling the game.

Gavi, Nico and Garcia were only three looking to move ball quickly and drive into any space Alaves left in order to disrupt their shape.

37,000 at the game tonight, not even at 50% capacity.

The Club is gonna struggle to come out of its financial troubles without a ludicrous sponsorship deal or sugar daddy investment.

We have no star to attract fans and tourists since Messi has gone, 37,000 is worrying for a home fixture. How do we expect to raise funds for Players in the future?

Either Pedri, Ansu and co become world beaters (they won't) or we'll have to sell our soul to a sugar daddy if we want to stay relevant the next few years.. else we could really fall away.

The football is mediocre, the players are mediocre, theres nothing exciting at Barca currently. I said in another thread we need a big name star desperately to get people watching us again (likes of Memphis ain't gonna cut it obviously) but yeah that won't happen without money. Haaland would of been perfect

We need to develop a star. We can't afford one. Especially Haaland. Fact is we are a EL team at best. Even with Xavi we are going to struggle big time. Players are either shit or injured. Style of play is outdated.

Just chilling here and watching how we struggle to win against anyone without Messi and to an extent Griezmann, because even him, being shit with Barca compared to France, was better than this crap. Messi kept this team afloat for many years but the supporting cast has deteriorated massively these last two seasons. Not even prime Messi would make a difference now. Let's how deep the barrel can go.

Was out of town for the day and back tonight to read the forum. Match was that bad? I think we may really struggle to make top 6. Way too many unproven youngsters. How much of a difference will Xavi make if the squad is mediocre? Do we really know if Ansu, Pedri, Gavi, etc are stars? They could be really good players, but not ones to lead the team to a La liga or CL

Gavi and Nico created 3 one on ones between them.

Alot of possession but if we could finish we would have won handidly.
