Ronald Koeman

He gets his money anyway. Either 12ME now if he gets sacked or the remaining salary+the reported 6ME bonus at the end of his contract (for paying some of the release money to the Dutch federation?).

I can understand Laporta though. Season is a write off even if he doesn't publicly admit it.

he doesn't get the same money if he resigns. that's what i was trying to point out.

season was a write off from the moment we lost both messi and griezmann and got luuk de jong.

koeman's fate was decided before the start of the season when laporta wanted to fire him but changed his mind.

season is about damage limitation and finishing in CL place. not even sure a CL group elimination would change laporta's mind.

koeman will have to swallow his pride and be the scape goat if he wants the money.

He wont see it as swallowing his pride to stay when board have behaved the way they have.

They made it a game of cat and mouse trying to pressure him to quit.

Swallowing his pride would more be in line with quitting under those circumtances.

swallowing his pride when he's kind of forced to stay and accept fans spitting on him, if he wants the money.

it's clear that koeman is no barca manager, but board also decided to use him as scape goat.

Dont agree.

The way club tried to force him out to back out now is having to swallow pride more than having to accept fans are unhappy.

Dont think he is forced to stay and he will still believe right man for job regardless if is or isnt. Folk back themselves.

Board handed is badly undermine the one man they wont pay off in hope he quits... when he doesnt they are left with lame duck coach the players and everyone knows they dont want and undermines the authority... They realise this then pretend to back him again.

They had to appear to back Koeman and let him do job or sack him and take the hit. Did neither.

goes hand in hand with what i'm saying. him being made out as scape goat, fans turning against him, board playing the 'who blinks first' game with him etc

it's clear that he wants to fuck the board over and get every penny from them. but for that he has to swallow his pride and jut sit there and accept everything coming at him.

otherwise, if he wouldn't care he would just resign and go on holiday. don't think he is that delluded into thinking he would turn it around and board will extend his contract.

Dont think he wants to fuck board over and get the money I think he just is far less likely to strike a deal to leave due to way they treated him and would see that as backing down and swallowing pride much more so than walking away.

That is if it even came to them telling he was finished which they dont appear to want to officially do.

Totally disgaree that pride is hit more by staying in role than quitting and giving board what they wanted or being willing to take some deal that makes it easier.

What is coming to him he will put a lot of blame on board and make less likely to walk away or see it is giving in.

Rarely if ever do coaches walk away for free when under pressure. Particularly if see it as board winning out and getting what they wanted when made it so clear.

Damages will be a lot higher than 12 mil if we fail to end up in TOP 4. IMHO, if our team doesn't improve we should fire him after the Celta game. International break is the perfect time to do so and this will probably be our last chance do intervene on time. If we fall too much behind the top teams no one will be able to turn this around.

pride is hit anyway. regardless of his end game. a club legend like koeman surely is not happy to become the villain.

wheter is just the money involved or not wanting to back off against the board.

To some extent his pride will be hit when leaves the job but for me his bigger issue is with the board and giving in to them due to way have behaved.

Fans relationship will come back after he leaves regardless.

Either way the way board have acted has entrenched him in his position for now and made it if anything harder to get rid.

I still hope that they have already an agreement for a new coach for upcoming season. The fact that we still don't have a sporting director makes me hope that Laporta hires Overmars and Ten Hag.

No chance they have that in place.

Winging it as usual hoping can get to season with Koeman shielding them from blame and making CL.

Then probably think can try for Pep again, try for Ten Hag but too late and then end up with Xavi.

If you were Overmars and Ten Hag you may want to consider Barca based on history. But if you consider future ,you have to think Newcastle.

I know Newcastle as a city cannot be compared to Barcelona.
History of the club you cannot compare the two.
Prestige as Barcelona manager cannot be compared to Newcastle.
But unlimited finance to unlimited debt -I am exaggerating- matters in building your dream team.
Pitting your brains in the PL as opposed to LL………..

If Newcastle was giving unlimited finance immediately they would not go for Overmars and Ten Haag

They cant give them a blank cheque anymore those days are gone.

The league still has financial controls and FFP will be around in some form.

Look at likes of Everton. They have a billionaire owner who wants to spend more money but cant as they are restricted by how much have already spent/wasted.

Teams already voting to change rules regarding related sponsorships also.. which only City and Newcastle opposed.

Ten Hag wont go to Newcastle wouldnt think. Maybe in couple years after this next coach. That will be when it is a big job.
