Ronald Koeman

It seems there were leaks from the meeting before, who leaked?
Also seems like Koeman and his management have a hard time accepting they aren't above being replaced.

Some posters here need to look at the similarities/differences between the way Koeman has been treated and the way he treated some of his players (and his reaction compared to the players)

I honestly believe the only thing stopping Laporta sacking Koeman is the severance payment. We are that fucked financially, that he would have pulled the trigger under normal circumstances the day after the league ended.

Performance-wise, not many could have been too upset as the season did derail a bit, but I don't really get the point of having a press conference before a decision can be made. It just adds unnecessary scandal at a time where the club could really do with working in silence.

Let me rephrase: As an assistant coach, not head coach.

Was an assistant coach for Cadeta A when Messi, Cesc and Pique were a part of that team.

One of us is missing something here.
Almost every source says he was playing until 2004, and started coaching only in 2006.
TM (not always accurate) mentions he was assistant between 2001-2003 but he was still playing as footballer fulltime.
This means he was a part time assistant, 20 years ago that cross passed Messi and Pique (provided TM is right) for few months.
Doubt that can play any part in getting respect of the players tbh, being some no body who was an adult during his childhood doesn't really scream "he will have no problem gettin respect)
And even then, every other veteran really didn't play under him at all, except of Roberto.

Btw I do agree that this is being handled quite badly and similarly to how some things went through with the last board.

You either have to fire him or commit to him. Asking for extra time and shit like that is disrespectful to any coach and makes them look like they don't have a plan.

Koeman's agent/agency is making it worse though.
I agree. Laporta is starting poorly, for me.

The irony though.

He told Suarez he couldn't train with the team and that he doesn't count on him in like a five minute phone conversation.....and then later told Suarez that if the club couldn't get rid of him he'd count on him anyway.

I'll be honest with you Khaled....I don't really care too much about Pimienta's 1st team prospects to go and look at it deeper and you might be right here. I saw the annoying La Masia twitter merchants including the big account mention it multiple times and there are apparently sold photos that exist of when Pimienta was with that team. Could have been a part-time assistant or a scout or something for them. In that case you're prob right they didn't build much of a relationship.

The only seniors that count are Messi, Pique and Busquets.

No one cares about Roberto. Not even the club.

Laporta tried to be diplomatic, but at the end the last question about Koeman got him. He should be smarter than that handling the press.
Was never his biggest strength tbf

What do you mean the last question about Koeman? Laporta mentioned Koeman's health scare at the very beginning, when he responded to the first question about Koeman, no?

Between minute 26 and 27 of his press conference:

What leaks?

I know you have a thing for Puig and are not happy with Koeman for not playing him, but Koeman didn't reveal anything publicly about Puig or told Puig or any other player "give me some time to think about whether you are part of my plan or not", did he?

Lluis Canut, Koeman's friend leaked word-for-word what Laporta told him during their meeting(and today confirmed) a few days ago.

I don't hate it though. Koeman has been at Barcelona long enough and knows Barcelona well enough to know the political nature of the club, but playing too much politics can also lead to your demise.

Most people in the press in BCN seem to stray on the side of "Koeman should not continue". Canut is there to tell you why Koeman should and deserves to continue.

He was the guy who leaked the 15-day thing?

Nevertheless, Koeman had every right to be pissed. Anybody in his situation would be pissed to be told that.

Just dont see what pissing off Koeman achieves and mentioning the health side of it is the worst part.

Piss of a player at end of career and the threat for them is not playing much in final years.

Would prefer if club did that to more of the players to be honest and forced them out.

For a coach who does not have a playing career ticking down and who relies on authority in dressing room players dont this doesnt seem right way to go at all and could well be counterproductive.

Wouldnt even be surprised if Laporta is so under thumb of amigos already this is a fuck you from Suarez.

That meeting couple of days ago was held to achieve what?

Laporta should have postponed that meeting with Koeman and his agent if he hasn't made up his mind whether he will keep Koeman or not. He could simply have waited 15 days or whatever to make that decision and then meet with Koeman to communicate his decision.

Puig and Suarez and other players.
I don't care about them so much, but it's an ironic situation.
Puig was told to leave and apparently it was wrong that that info got out (I don't know if it was clear how it got out, but I don't think his management ever put out something like Koemans...)
Puig was criticized for staying and trying to work himself into the team anyway, and I don't remember him moaning for one word, he said the club owes him nothing.
What responsibility does Koeman take for the team getting its worst results since Rijkaard? He blames the players.

I guess maybe to discuss their thoughts on the season, and if they shared the same vision for how to progress the team next season? Shouldn't be holding public conferences though until a decision has been made after that.

Of course he should take most of the blame. I am not arguing whether Koeman should be kept or not (I am leaning toward sacking him if we have a competent candidate or alternative), I am saying the way Koeman is treated is not nice.

Laporta should have started looking for a new manager to replace Koeman before the season had ended. This is turning into a circus 🤡
