❗The teams that have agreed to join the European Super League can be kicked out of UCL and UEL with IMMEDIATE effect.

Since Uncle Flo is the President of ESL they won't back out for whatever the circumstances be. PSG will win the CL.

La Liga statement:

https://www.laliga.com/en-GB/news/press-statement-proposal-breakaway-european-competition

The 2nd paragraph below is key. The whole point is that teams like Leicester can make Champions League while teams like Arsenal/Spurs don?t make it when underperforming.

Cl itself and bosman arrest already put us on this trajectory. Globalization and internet accelerated it while covid presented the right opportunity.
But Leicester winning epl or Ajax kids cl definitly didnt help in that regard.
Its not about sport, underdogs and fans anymore but about billionaires getting richer with fans replaced by customers.
Its pure greed.
There is nobody to root for from our perspectives.
Uefa set the example themselves amd are bad as well allthough perhaps its the lesser pof evils.
Still wrong way to go.

Yeah with international matches you would be looking at a big number of matches.
But besides that it totally kills the sporting aspect.
Leicester city winning Epl and Ajax cvl run eliminating Juve amd Madrid is gone with thos set up amd most likely what confirmed the idea.
The pure greed behind it is disgusting.
Same clubs over and over year in year out will get boring as well.

There will be still underdogs every season. People are just talking BS here. It's not like every team is the same in this league.

Nasser apparently voted for new CL format and has no intention of joining ESL.

(however, I think as soon as this folds out a bit... he might jump on the train IMO)

So taking further steps towards more greed and rich getting richer is better for the sport?

You are too naive if you believe Uefa/Fifa cares about anything else but money.

It's just richer clubs taking a stand against Uefa/Fifa. Uefa/Fifa are trying to money grab more and more with their watered-down Euros, World cups and now CL.. ***** watered-down shit.

Of course , qatar has right for CL and Fifi's could take away their world cup.

It is odd to see the likes of Tebas of LaLiga, Gary Neville in the EPL complain now. Did they complain the same when the CL competition change increased the participation of non-Champion clubs from England and Spain to join while making it harder for the Champions of Belgium, Sweden, Romania, etc reach the competition? Did they prefer the tournament when it was their 4th place side against the 4th place side of Spain instead of these other clubs who were cut out.

Did these English clubs complain when the financial power of the EPL directly harmed the quality and competition of most of the fellow leagues in Europe and moved money from there into the EPL?

You reap what you sow.

This deal does not really harm the integrity of the game or the financial value of the current national leagues, but the Sponsorships and TV rights of the Champions League. Which the Top15 will argue is arcaic, has lost it's origins anyways and needlessly harnesses power and money to UEFA who are unnecessarily taking a big cut even as a NPO.

For UEFA if this goes ahead, they will have to adjust the model, perhaps move to end of season tournaments and go to a more foundational level. Although without the money being paid out to the ESL clubs, I wonder if what would be distributed to the lesser clubs of the Champions League would be any lower.

I'm sorry but I see no sympathy for an organisation like UEFA who done such things as saw the success of the NexGen Series and gobbled up the concept and started their own Youth Champions League.

Juve's Agnelli, UEFA vice president, apparently disappeared on Saturday. Changed sides.

Like WWI. Like WWII. Italians being Italians.

A local poll done by a Bulgarian sports site:

Do you approve the formation of the ESL?

78,49% - No

12,90% - Yes

4,30% - Will ruin the game

4,30% - Don't care

I believe the backlash from fans is similar throughout Europe.
