So lets say this is the case, why is Ronaldo then the scapegoat considering that the coach didn't move him 3rd when it was necessary? It's a coaching fault if anything.

Oh Yeah and it was Penaldo's magical vision that send Moutinho to take the kick last year against Poland . Coach didn't had anything to say on that, since Portugal won it. Now it's all coach's fault .

Whole of penaldo fan base wouldn't have imagined that this would come and haunt them a year later

The Monaco star appeared reluctant to step up for Portugal in the quarter-final shootout but his captain took charge of the situation with a motivational pep talk

If there was any doubt as to Cristiano Ronaldo's authority in the Portugal dressing room, it was on full display before their penalty shootout victory over Poland. The Real Madrid star, who shot first for his country and scored, decided to take charge as Fernando Santos' players were deciding who would step up from 12 yards. One apparently reluctant candidate was midfielder Joao Moutinho -

but new footage shows the technically adept Monaco player was quickly told by his captain that he would not be ducking out.

Cristiano Ronaldo gives inspirational talk to nervous Joao Moutinho before penalties
HE can often split opinion with his seemingly selfish actions, but there is no doubting Cristiano Ronaldo deserves to be Portugal captain.

By Simon Green / Published 5th July 2016

With his team’s Euro 2016 place hanging in the balance after a tense 1-1 quarter final against Poland, the dreaded penalties awaited.

And no-one was more nervous than midfield maestro Joao Moutinho during the match on June 30.

After a chat with manager Fernando Santos, Ronaldo races over to the touchline and ushers the Monaco star in.

He says: “Hey! Hey! Come kick, come kick. Come.

come back better baby ...

So Ronaldo as a team captain encourages a fellow player to not miss his penalty during a crucial penalty shootout. What is the punchline here?

Nop , the punchline is Ronaldo after speaking with santos , decided that it will he Moutinho who is gonna take the third pen . shows his commanding power over the manager . Still if you want to keep on defending him by saying that ,everything is decided by the coach , go ahead

Aha
so what this proves is: Ronaldo can suggest things as a team captain (like any team captain can do), but still needs Santos to decide it.
Guess we have that settled then
And santos will accept whatever he suggests . This is the final thing that is proved here . Because santos wouldn't have declined had Ronaldo stepped up :) . Nobody here said that Ronaldo decides everything alone , yes he needs consent from the coach But he didn't even stepped up to suggest that i would take the third pen like he suggested Moutinho ;)

uhh, pretty sure this does NOT actually prove it, my obsessed indian friend. It's looks more like that is what you assume must be the case.

But he didn't even stepped up to suggest that i would take the third pen

first fair point you are making, yes that's wrong decisionmaking then. However had he made that, they still needed someone to make the 4th, and that one is just as hard.
The main reason why Portugal lost the shooutout was because they were shooting piss fucking poor, not because of some order. Ronaldo is certainly not responsible for the players fluffing their pens respectively.

Now you even brought my nationality just because you don't have anything left in the tank to defend penaldo . Comming to the point , Ronaldo is not responsible for the penalty Misses by his mates , but he was a Coward and a selfish cunt in waiting for the 5th pen instead of taking the 3rd when they missed first two . Ronaldo who can influence santos to send Moutinho in last Euro ,, can definitely step in ,if he wasn't a glory hunting cunt

Nobody is saying that Portugal would have won even if penaldo converts his peno , point is how selfish he was to wait for the glory moment .

What is hypocritical is that people complain about how retarded it is that Messi gets scapegoated for minor reasons at Argentina, yet do not act accordingly when his name is being replaced by Ronaldo.
This type of thinking will never be banished for as long as people play ping pong with opinions. Be the change you want to see in the world. is what a fellow countryman of yours once said.
