Alexis Sanchez

Alexis was pretty good and had a great goal but overall I thought Bravo, Silva, and Medel were the reason Brazil didn't run through Chile and I thought they were the best players for them tonight. Tough break for Chile though.

Medel and Bravo, yes. But Silva was very poor in the first half. In the second, I thought Vidal and Aranguiz really asserted themselves, not allowing Brasil to link up play. Perhaps I missed some things though.

And Alexis was very good. Hope he stays, or they get a boat full of money for him.

The guy who defended Alexis when 90% of the people on this forum said he was shit. :coffee:

Many including myself insisted he wasn't the best fit for RW at Barca which is entirely true for many of us not that he is shit. He always was very good for his NT and for Udinese too though.

You have no arguments to support that claim this season. Alexis played better on the right, than Neymar did on the left. So, whatever tactic doesn't suit Alexis, it doesn't suit Neymar either.

Tata Martino has a lot of responsability in the way the team played. People should aknowledge that. When a player doesn't fit, it's because the coach doesn't make good use of his qualities.

It's not just the national team, he has improved a *lot* in the past year. Look at how he stayed on his feet versus Brazil. And his eye for his teammates and though ball passing has improved. A different player than a year ago.

The one mistake he (and other) Chileans were making was trying take-ons back in their own half. When they lost them, opened themselves up to dangerous counters.

Exactly, us Sanchez doubters always said he was good for Chile and Udinese but his Barca mould wasn't satisfying. For that reason I won't be bothered if we sell him and if he is to stay I hope Lucho plays him as a 9 or hybrid winger/9. I think he could be great paying away from the wing... having said that it appears Lucho wants someone else as a number 9.

Sanchez did not play better on the right than Neymar did on the left.

I think people are massively over rating how good Sanchez was last season. His all round play was not great and he himself did not look happy on the RW.

Yea right. I really got tired in battleing in arguments with the myriad of Alexis fan boys over this forum.

Everybody got his own arguments ( right and false alike ) but the truth can't easily be found on such matters since this isn't mathematics.

Therefore on this kind of subjects there will always be "haters" and "fanatics" clashing one against another for very little reason because none of us heere can influence his stay / depature from the club or the way in which he is played and is actually playing.

This!

I'll tell you what the truth is. 30 goals + assists last season in the league. That is the truth.

Part of the truth on the matter is statistics can and usually is very deceiving and quite irrelevant in many cases in football and this without any shadow of a dobut!

Morover, statistics is just a part of a much bigger picture in football and especially when used to rate individual players rather than whole teams or systems of play.

Bravo and Medel especially were immense. Brazil's forwards were woeful, but that was some of the best defending from the Chile NT in a long time.
