Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Z has in my opinion surpassed every player in history regarding the entertainment value, since he has done it season after season. So in my book; extreme agility despite extreme size, world class in pure play making alone, top class goal scoarer, arguable the best target in the world, his creativity is nothing short of crazy, without any doubt the best back heel ever... etc.

Personally, I kind of doubt I will ever be this entertained by another fotballer in my life time.

Regardning Messi:
the reason i bring it up i generally do not understand why we do not recognize that there are players that have done all of this before and in cases where it might be justified is in cases where we know for sure they haven't; for example, Messi's 90 goal year.
Yeah well, Messi recieved the same "inhuman" classification from me years ago. The thing is I hold Zlatan as a better fotballer than CR, and I dont think that is close anymore. Zlatan has simply been better.

However, back when Zlatan was at Barcelona (2010?), Messi was still somewhat in the discussions of the worlds greatest as well. The years after; 2011, 2012, Messi... well, to this day Im not even sure what he did. But there was no contest anymore, thats for sure. For me it was never about the goals though. I still remember that CL final against United. I was kind of rooting for United (sorry), and they started out really well. Barcelona where in shock the first 10-15 minutes.

So how did Barcelona handle those scenarios back then? Well, they gave the ball to Messi. And he carried his whole team over to attack. Almost literally.. I mean he moved the whole play uppwards, against the next best team in the world, in a CL final. More or less on his own. I still remember how my jaw dropped that game. After that, he did similar things again and again, against top teams like Real.

That was that. No discussion; Messi was the best/most important in the world. You dont really need a new discussion every week in that scenario.
And as I dont find Messis play very entertaining - other than the pure brilliance that game against united for example - discussing him just kind of faded.

This is no Messi thread, but I thought he deserved it

What's the deal with him shouting at the ref after scoring that beauty?

By the way, that shot really looked like it could take someone's head down.

Sochaux's defenders kept making big tackles in their penalty area during the whole game.

The referee didn't give any penalty despite very big fouls.

3 minutes before the goal i posted, he refused to give a penalty after that Cavani got tackled very dangerously again in the penalty area. Cavani could have been injured by it.

Cavani got very angry at the referee, and got a yellow card for it.

Zlatan arrived and took cavani's side, and so got after the referee because he gave a yellow card to Cavani. He got a yellow card for it.

2 min later, sochaux's defender used his hand to stop the ball. He was the last defender, and Zlatan could have scored.

The referee "only" gave a yellow card to the defender.

Zlatan got even more angry.

Then you know the story. Zlatan scored and went mad at the referee again telling him that despite not giving penalties or red card, he scored.

5 min later he scored a second goal thanks to a superb triangle movement between him, Lucas, and Cavani.

Well.............

Here's a big summary of the game.

Zlatan shined during the whole game. I'm used to Watch Ronaldo and Messi, and despite that, Ibra's performance was fabulous.

Enjoy it till it last because last time i posted a summary, a moderator (i guess) deleted my post after a few hours...

Zlatan's yellow might have been planned. He's suspended in the League Cup in the week of Dec. 16. Early Christmas vacation for him?

There's a very important L1 match (december 22) after that against Lille that's currently ranked third in the league. Zlatan will be present of course.

And the league cup is the most crappy tournament in France that no one takes seriously.

Every team just send their C team to it.

Monaco lost against Reims in that tournament for that very reason. They sent the substitutes of the substitutes

Do you not find this entertaining?

I would understand if you say that you there are others player that you find more entertaining, me for example I prefer a Iniesta in full form over any other player, but I don't think that you can be a football fan and say that Messi is not entertaining..

Indeed. Just because Messi doesn't use as many fancy tricks as others, it doesn't mean that he is a "boring" player. I mean, just look at Zidane. The only fancy trick that he ever did was the roulette(a trick that Messi has done a couple of times), but nothing else. And yet he is one of the most entertaining player to have graced the game..

Was hoping Ibra would win Puskas. But now I see he's up against Neymar who is the Bieber of football with too many teenager fans who knows nothing about football
