Add assists and the divide the goals into match-winning goals and game opening goals and Ronaldo would get slaughtered. Also exclude penalties and the same will happen

How is this possible? Van Persie scored 22 goals in 2010/2011 and 17 this season. Even that all added up (even considering some of the 2010/2011 goals were scored in the year of 2010) only amounts to 39.

This is the actual goalscoring rank of 2011 at the club level:

Messi - 51

Ronaldo - 46

Mario Gomez - 40

Van Persie - 38

The best average will probably be Gomez's since Bayern played a lot less matches than Barca and Madrid (only 34 games in Bundesliga, Bayern didn't go far in CL) or Messi, not sure.

Anyway, where did you get those stats? Barca didn't even play 58 games in 2011, how can Messi have 58 appearances. Are those stats including friendlies or something (even then, Messi would never have 58 games)?

I saw them on an Arsenal site, think it included international apps too.

Fair enough. Although it's a bit biased and unfair to count goals scored in international friendlies. Copa/Euro qualifiers maybe. If we're counting friendlies, we should also give Ronaldo all those goals he scored in pre-season with Madrid.

Metaphysical

Bomb Dropper
club & country, competitive club games, all international games, coming off the bench counts as half an appearance:

Cristiano: 55 (52+3) games, 53 goals, 0.99 ratio
RVP: 49 (45+4) games, 43 goals, 0.91 ratio
Gomez: 45 (44+1) games, 40 goals, 0.90 ratio
Falcao: 37 (36+1) games, 32 goals, 0.88 ratio
Messi: 64 (60+3) games, 54 goals, 0.86 ratio

Argentina are holding Messi back. because he has to be the playmaker (13 games, 4 goals, 10 assists) his scoring is lower. for us his record is 51 (48+3) games, 50 goals, 1.01 ratio

Why the hell are we comparing RVP with Messi? We all agree that RVP is world class, but Messi is the best player in the world. There's no comparison

You could add Messi had a lot of penalties in that same with Ronaldo.

Aren't you supposed to be known as either 'Gunners' or possibly 'Gooners'? I don't get why you'd want to be called goons, but I respect it. Calling yourself 'Goners' is a bit too martyresque, No?!
